The owner of a chain of hairdressing salons has admitted a number of break-ins at one of his shops has cost him around £20,000.
There have been six burglaries at Barrie Stephen in King Street, Leicester, in the last year, with the latest being on Christmas Day night, the owner said.
Mr Stephen said the costs come from insurance claims, stolen stock and repairs.
He added that he would like to put bars or shutters on his window, but is prevented from doing so because of a conservation order in the King Street area of the city.
"From a small business point of view it is devastating," he told BBC News.
Leicestershire Police added that it attended the salon late on Christmas Day and are still investigating the break in.

The Peak District National Park is inviting landowners and property developers to send in suggestions of areas that could be suitable for houses and businesses.
Each suggested site will be considered against a set of criteria to determine whether it's suitable for development.
Policy planner Ian Fullilove said: "The consultation provides an opportunity for the National Park to look ahead to the future where development is concerned.
"Like all National Parks, the Peak District has the challenge of balancing development demands without impacting on the special qualities of the area that make it so important to those who live and work within and beyond its boundaries."
Sites can be submitted until 19 January.
