    A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a car crashed in Nottingham and a gun was reportedly fired.

    Two men, aged 19 and 36, and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on Boxing Day after reports of a crash in Arnold Road, Old Basford.

    Police said they had reports the firearm was discharged at the vehicle shortly before or after the collision.

    The men and boy arrested on Tuesday have now been released pending further investigation.

    The fourth man is being questioned.

    Police have released this CCTV footage, external of a man being knocked unconscious in a bar, in a bid to help find his attacker.

    The assault happened in Revolution, in Loughborough, at around 23:30 on Friday 22 December.

    The 46-year-old man sustained a fracture to his skull in the attack and is still undergoing treatment.

    Leicester centre Manu Tuilagi has not been included in an England training squad for a two-day camp in Brighton.

    Tuilagi, 26, has not played for the national team since March 2016 and has just returned to domestic action following his most recent injury.

    Tigers trio Ben Youngs, George Ford and Dan Cole have been included.

    The camp starts on 1 January.

    The owner of a chain of hairdressing salons has admitted a number of break-ins at one of his shops has cost him around £20,000.

    There have been six burglaries at Barrie Stephen in King Street, Leicester, in the last year, with the latest being on Christmas Day night, the owner said.

    Mr Stephen said the costs come from insurance claims, stolen stock and repairs.

    He added that he would like to put bars or shutters on his window, but is prevented from doing so because of a conservation order in the King Street area of the city.

    "From a small business point of view it is devastating," he told BBC News.

    Leicestershire Police added that it attended the salon late on Christmas Day and are still investigating the break in.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service has said a man was taken to hospital after he was hit by a bus in Nottingham this afternoon.

    "We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car, a doctor in a car and a crewed ambulance to the scene," a spokeswoman said.

    The crash happened on Derby Road in Canning Circus at about 14:45.

    The man is being treated at the Queen's Medical Centre but no details about the extent of his injuries have been released.

    Services for vulnerable families in Leicestershire look set to be merged.

    If the plans are approved, eight full-time jobs will go, and £1.5m will be saved.

    The county council has insisted it won't affect the quality of the service.

    Agencies including children's centres, the youth offending service and the supporting Leicestershire families scheme are set to come under one umbrella - a family wellbeing service

    Of the 40 buildings across the county, used by vulnerable families, 25 will close.

    However he said: "Those who are emerging or maybe borderline or threshold may find they will have to wait longer to qualify."

    The plans are currently out to consultation and come into effect in 2019 if approved.

    Children who spend more time outdoors at school get along better with their peers, research has found.

    Academics from Loughborough University studied children at so called "forest schools" in the county - an idea that originated in Scandinavia., external

    It involves children taking part in woodland activities - including shelter building - as part of their curriculum.

    Dr Janine Coates, from Loughborough University, said the youngsters involved also spoke about having more friends.

    Thursday's postponement of racing at Leicester due to weather is set to cost the course at least £20,000 in refunds.

    Around 750 people had pre-booked tickets for the fixture, but the snow and ice meant racing could not go ahead.

    In addition to the refunded tickets, a spokesperson for the course said losses on food, drink and hospitality is set to cost them "many, many thousands".

    The Peak District National Park is inviting landowners and property developers to send in suggestions of areas that could be suitable for houses and businesses.

    Each suggested site will be considered against a set of criteria to determine whether it's suitable for development.

    Policy planner Ian Fullilove said: "The consultation provides an opportunity for the National Park to look ahead to the future where development is concerned.

    "Like all National Parks, the Peak District has the challenge of balancing development demands without impacting on the special qualities of the area that make it so important to those who live and work within and beyond its boundaries."

    Sites can be submitted until 19 January.
