    Derby County defender Craig Forsyth has signed a new deal until 2020.

    There is an option for the contract to be extended by a further year.

    The Scotland international has played 150 times for Derby after joining from Watford in 2013.

  4. Terror charge pair remanded in custodypublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    A fish-and-chip shop owner and another man have appeared in court accused of preparing to build a bomb in the lead up to Christmas.

    Andy Sami Star, 31, of Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, and Farhad Salah, 22, of Brunswick Road, Sheffield, are jointly charged with a single count of preparing an act of terrorism.

    Westminster Magistrates Court heard that the pair, appearing on a video link from Leeds, allegedly researched and prepared bomb ingredients for an attack on the UK and recorded test explosions on a smart phone.

    Deputy Senior District judge Ikram Tan remanded the pair in custody before they next appear at the Old Bailey on 19 January.

    Madison Broxton from Derbyshire has been missing since the early hours of yesterday morning.

    The 16-year-old, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, may have travelled to Burnley, Lancashire.

    Madison, who lives on Manchester Road, is described as white, 5ft 3in tall with a slim build and straight, black shoulder length hair.

    She was wearing a grey hoody with black leggings and black trainers and has two tattoos - one of Roman numerals on her left collarbone and the other a black and grey rose on her left wrist.

    Leicester boss Claude Puel has not ruled out Ahmed Musa leaving the club in the January transfer window.

    The 25-year-old Nigerian forward has played just once this season for the Foxes and has not featured at all under Puel.

    "It's not the time to speak about if he can bring something to the squad or if he can leave the squad in January," Puel told BBC Sport.

    A woman grabbed a bar worker by the neck after she refused to serve her in Belper last night, police have said.

    It happened at the Monk Bar in King Street at about 23:30.

    The woman, thought to have been in the bar with her father, was described as white, 5ft 2ins tall with brown hair in a ponytail.

    The head of the government's anti-slavery agency has died.

    Paul Broadbent set up the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) in Nottingham after leaving a top job with the county police force.

    He was passionate about tackling modern slavery.

    From his headquarters in the city, Mr Broadbent was leading the fight to stop workers across the country being exploited by unscrupulous employers.

    He recently recruited the GLAA's first investigators, who'd begun using new powers to police every industry for modern slavery.

    The GLAA has said Mr Broadbent was warm, funny, and generous, a champion for the vulnerable and his sudden death, at 54 years old, is a "shattering tragedy".

    An eight-foot-tall, moving Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur model has gone on show at Twycross Zoo.

    The 17-foot-long structure, which visited the zoo earlier this year, will be on display alongside some baby dinosaurs.

    "They were immensely popular," Ryan Floyd, from the zoo, said.

    "So we figured there was no better way to round off the year by bringing them back again."

    The models are on show until Sunday.

    Rail services across the East Midlands will be significantly disrupted on New Year's Eve if planned strikes by members of the RMT union go ahead.

    CrossCountry has produced a reduced timetable for Sunday, external in the event of the strike not being called off.

    It will not be operating a service to or from Nottingham and none of its trains will be stopping at Hinckley, Narborough or South Wigston in Leicestershire.

    There will be trains from Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Derby and Chesterfield.

    The union has called the strike over its concerns about working patterns and Sunday pay.

    A shopkeeper has described how he used karate to overpower a robber who was pointing a gun at him.

    Sibu Kuruvilla's young daughters hid in a storeroom at the shop in Evington, Leicester, where they saw what was happening on CCTV.

    A 17-year-old has been arrested and questioned by police in connection with the raid.

    There’s an amber warning for snow in force for Derbyshire until 11:00 today.

    Routes over higher ground and hills could see 10-15cm of snow, which could cause travel disruption.

    There’s also a yellow warning for snow in Nottinghamshire with, in particular, northern parts of the county seeing some snowfall that could lead to travel disruption.

    Two men have been charged with terror offences by police investigating an alleged plot for an attack over Christmas.

    Andi Sami Star, 31, from Chesterfield and Farhad Salah, 22, from Sheffield, have been charged with engaging in the preparation of an act of terrorism.

    Both men will appear via video link at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London later.

    The pair were among four men arrested on 19 December.
