New technology has been developed in Nottingham which could help farmers automatically detect if their sheep are lame.
Lameness, which can cause huge welfare and economical problems in flock, costs the farming sector an estimated £80m a year.
The tracking device being trialled by the University of Nottingham aims to reduce that.
Leicestershire farmer Charles Sercombe, who is the chairman of the National Farmer's Union's national livestock, said: "What I would like to see is trials and results.
"I would like to possibly try it on my own farm and compare it to what we do on an everyday basis.
