    Officers are concerned for the safety of Thomas Welch.

    The 14-year-old was reported missing from Lincoln but was last seen in St Ann's on 7 January at about 15:00, Nottinghamshire Police said., external

    John Mann, Labour MP for Bassetlaw, has described the collapse of Carillion as "an opportunity to close down expensive, inflexible contracts and bring them back into the public sector".

    He cited the East Leake schools PFI contract run by Carillion as the sort of deal that should be immediately brought in-house.

    He wrote on Twitter, external: "Here’s a great idea: put a construction company in charge of school meals and running prisons. Oh, it’s just gone wrong. What a surprise."

    Theresa May's de facto deputy, David Lidington, has said Carillion's troubles "arose for the most part from a side of the business that is nothing to do with UK government contracts".

    Church bosses are planning to convert to a disused building near Leicester Cathedral into a hotel.

    The Diocese of Leicester has bought the Grade II-listed St Martin's Lodge in Peacock Lane and is planning a "sympathetic" restoration to turn it into a 28-room bed and breakfast hotel.

    It's scheduled to open in October but visitors can start booking rooms from April.

    The company behind plans to redevelop the old American Adventure site near Ilkeston has confirmed work will begin in the coming months.

    Waystone Construction will build around 300 new homes, a garden centre, a retirement village and leisure facilities on the former theme park grounds.

    The attraction closed in January 2007 and the site has stood derelict ever since.

    A full schedule may be running at Nottingham railway station this morning but there are plenty of visual reminders of Friday's ferocious fire.

    Parts of the station have been boarded up and fire damage can clearly be seen from platform 7.

    This is the current scene on the M1 northbound between J29 and J29a where a lane has been closed due to a broken down vehicle.

    From the looks of things, it's a lorry that's having problems but it doesn't appear to have caused much disruption.

    A 22-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Loughborough.

    Police were called to Moira Street shortly after 03:00 yesterday morning to reports a man and woman had been injured. The man died at the scene while being treated by paramedics.

    Officers will be in the area throughout today to reassure the local community.

    Construction giant Carillion is to go into liquidation, threatening thousands of jobs.

    The move came after talks between the firm, its lenders and the government failed to reach a deal to save the UK's second biggest construction company.

    The firm has been involved in a number of projects and services in the East Midlands, including taking charge of cleaning at Nottingham's two main hospitals until the contract was ended last year following concerns about its performance.

    In Derbyshire, the firm has been involved in the building of several schools including Alfreton Grange.

    It also used to be in charge of mending Derby's roads until the contract was taken back in-house by the city council.

  11. Ticket office closed after Nottingham railway station firepublished at 08:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2018

    Train services in Nottingham are running as normal for commuters this morning following Friday's fire.

    However, parts of the station, including the ticket office, are still closed after suffering major damage in the blaze.

    BBC Radio Nottingham's Hayley Compton said smoke could still be smelt throughout the building, which is also without water.

    The fire, which started in the ladies' toilets on Friday morning, is being treated as arson and police are studying CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
