    Nottingham Trent University has apologised for delays in responding to alleged racist abuse aimed at student Rufaro Chisango (pictured).

    It said: "We are shocked and appalled by this video. This vile behaviour will not be tolerated at NTU.

    "The suspected perpetrators have been suspended immediately and we have begun an investigation.

    "We are also cooperating fully with the police, who have launched a criminal investigation and have made arrests.

    Nottinghamshire's hospitals are still failing to meet waiting time targets in their accident and emergency departments.

    Under guidelines 95% of patients are meant to be seen within four hours.

    At the Queen's Medical Centre, the figure for February was just over 70%.

    For the same period at King's Mill and Newark hospitals, it was 89%.

    Derbyshire is among nine counties where land owners have applied for licences to cull badgers in a bid to curb bovine TB.

    Natural England, which issues the licences, said applications and expressions of interest had come from areas of "high risk" or those nearby.

    Culling is part of the government's 25-year strategy to eradicate the disease in cattle, but opponents say there is no evidence it works.

    The licences allow badgers to be killed every year between 1 June and 31 January.

    Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, which started vaccinating badgers on its nature reserves as an alternative to culling in 2014, said it remained "steadfast that vaccinating badgers is the alternative to a badger cull".

    It added if the cull came to Derbyshire it "would not be allowed" on its land.

    An 11-year-old girl who was hit by a wheel that came off a passing car has died at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

    It is believed Amelia Wood was walking alongside a road in Manby, Lincolnshire, on Tuesday morning when a wheel fell off a Land Rover Discovery.

    Police said they were still investigating how the wheel came off.

    He will be joined by comedian Joe Pasquale.

    Labour MP Alex Norris has described apparent racist chanting at Nottingham Trent University as "horrendous".

    Rufaro Chisango tweeted the video of the alleged abuse while locked in her room at her halls of residence on Wednesday.

    Two men, both aged 18,have since been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.

    Mr Norris, the MP for Nottingham North, added that there was "no place" for racism "in our city - or anywhere else".

    Nottingham Forest's players and staff have decided to contribute to upcoming supporter displays, according to captain Ben Watson.

    Watson, 32, said the club wanted to help make the City Ground "a fortress", external after fans battled wintry weather to make it to the game against Birmingham City last weekend.

    Forest's next match is against local rivals Derby County on Sunday.
