    A theatre is appealing for First World War artifacts and anecdotes to accompany the release of a play about the conflict.

    The Wipers Times tells the story of a newspaper created in the battlefields of the Somme by soldiers from Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment).

    The production begins its UK tour at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham in August before going on to visit theatres including Leicester's Curve.

    David Longford, from the Theatre Royal, said any information about the newspaper people have would form part of a foyer exhibition.

    He added: "We would love to hear from anyone who may have stories, snippets, cuttings or anecdotes about The Wipers Times.

    "It would be great to be able to share these stories and to celebrate what was clearly a very resourceful group of men."

    Police are looking for a 62-year-old man with dementia who's gone missing from the Forest Fields area of Nottingham, external.

    Nicholas Kenyon was last seen on Monday evening and officers are concerned for his safety.

    He's described as about 5ft 11in with a slim build and white beard. He's also known to walk long distances.

    Police are investigating after a man was stabbed when another man forced his way into the house in Bestwood Park.

    The 26-year-old was taken to hospital last night following the attack on Chippenham Road at around 21:49.

    His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

    Det Insp Sam Austin, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We do not believe there is a threat to the wider public as this appears to be a domestic-related assault."

    Dozens of sets of ashes are being held by undertakers because there is not enough room for them to be scattered at a football club.

    Families are waiting to scatter them and add plaques at the Remembrance Garden at Leicester's King Power Stadium.

    Club ambassador Alan Birchenall said an extension to the garden has been "more or less" agreed by the board.

    "It is only fair we try and get something established for our fans as soon as possible," he added.

    A celebration is due to take place at a Leicester museum this weekend to mark the 50th anniversary of the Rutland Dinosaur being found.

    The 49ft (15m) skeleton was dug up at a quarry near Little Casterton in June 1968 and is one of the most complete fossils of its kind in the UK.

    It has been on display at New Walk Museum for the past 33 years.

    The anniversary event, from 11:00 to 16:00 on Saturday, will feature craft activities and free expert talks.

    A stolen car being chased by police crashed into a tree in the grounds of the University of Nottingham.

    Officers said the collision, external, which happened at about 22:45 last night happened on the university's Park Campus on Beeston Lane.

    It is believed the car was stolen after a burglary earlier in the day in Beeston.

    Following the crash a man and a woman fled the scene, Nottinghamshire Police added.

    Restrictions banning bikes being ridden down St Peter's Street between 10:00 and 17:00 will be enforced by police once more signs have been added to make the rules clearer, Derby City Council has said.

    The clarification comes after pedestrians complained cyclists were flouting the rules by using the street throughout the day.

    Yesterday, the new Conservative leadership at the council announced an urgent review of the so-called "shared space" scheme, which has been introduced in the past few weeks.

    David Gartside, director for transport at the authority, said: "We must make sure cyclists are behaving appropriately at the times where they are permitted.

    "We've had discussions with our colleagues in the police who are prepared to give guidance and advice to cyclists where necessary.

    "In persistent cases when cyclists are there when they're not supposed to be, ultimately police have the ability to take enforcement action."

    A city council is considering installing electric car charging points on lamp-posts.

    Leicester City Council wants to hear from drivers about whether there is any need for them and if so, where they would be most useful.

    Councillor Adam Clarke, deputy city mayor, said: "The number of people choosing to drive electric cars is growing and that is something we actively want to support."

    The authority estimates there are 270 people across the city who have electric cars and there are around 150 public charging points.
