    There are doubts over the future of a company planning to build a waste incinerator near Derby.

    Envirofusion was given permission for an 18-month trial in Darley Abbey but has now removed signs from its Derby base.

    Auditors warned in April that the company was millions of pounds in debt and may not continue. The firm has refused to comment.

    Tammy Abraham is the latest name being linked with a move to Derby County.

    The 20-year-old Chelsea striker is a proven goal scorer at Championship level having scored 23 for Bristol City two seasons ago.

    Abraham could be used to replace Matej Vydra, who the Rams are currently trying to agree a fee with Leeds United for. The Czech striker has not travelled to Tenerife with the rest of the squad.

    Andreas Weimann has also been the subject of interest from Bristol City.

    Rutland MP Sir Alan Duncan has told Tory backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg to "pipe down" after he said the prime minister risks a revolt if the type of Brexit she promised is not delivered.

    Writing in the Daily Telegraph, external, Mr Rees-Mogg said he and other members of the 60-strong group of Eurosceptic Tory MPs he leads would reject a deal that did not amount to a clean break with the EU.

    Foreign Office minister Duncan said in a tweet his Tory colleague's "insolence" was "just too much".

    He added it risked "debasing the government, party, country and himself".

    CCTV images have been released, external after a man and woman were robbed at knifepoint in Derby.

    Police said the pair, in their 20s, were threatened by a group of men while sitting at a bench in Sherwood Recreation Ground on 19 June.

    One of the men stole a bag of shopping and the male victim was punched in the face when he chased after the group.

    Anyone who recognises the people in the photos has been asked to call police on 101.

    Batsman Colin Ackermann has extended his contract with Leicestershire to the end of the 2020 season, external.

    The 27-year-old, who's scored almost 1,000 runs in 20 innings this season, will captain the Foxes for the T20 Blast campaign.

    The tournament gets under way on Wednesday with a trip to Northants followed by home games against Durham and Notts.

    One of Derbyshire Police's retired police dogs died at the weekend, the force has announced, external.

    PD Tex, who was 10 years old, had been living with his handler since stepping down from police duties.

    Announcing his death, she described him as "the most loyal colleague I've ever had and my best friend".

    She added: "Tex passed away at home in my arms after his legs could no longer carry his massive heart."

    A swan has had to be put down after being attacked by a dog, the RSPCA said.

    It happened on the Ashby Canal, near Moira on Friday evening.

    The swan was left with "a large gaping hole" in its body and was covered in blood.

    Five cygnets, which the male swan had been looking after, and a female swan were left "very distressed", the charity said.

    “It was terribly sad, he was clearly suffering and could not be saved so a decision was made to put him to sleep," said Neil Astle, the officer who attended the scene.

    "As I took him away the female was calling to him, it was awful and because she was distressed, so were the cygnets."

    Mr Astle added: “This terrible incident could have been avoided had the dog owner been responsible and kept their pet on a lead."

    Swans, their nests and their eggs are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

    Rutland and Melton MP Alan Duncan has rubbished plans to create a unitary authority for Leicestershire.

    County council leader Nick Rushton announced on Friday, external plans were being developed for a single authority to replace the current structure of seven district councils and the county council.

    Mr Rushton said: "I believe the time has come to consider having a modern, progressive council for Leicestershire. A unitary council would save money as well as simplify and improve services."

    However, Mr Duncan described the plan as a "big, bad idea that should be binned".

    He said: "It's not logical. The idea it's going to save £30m is unproven - people always exaggerate savings and underestimate costs."

    A "firewatch" operation has been launched in the Peak District as the hot and sunny weather continues.

    Staff from the National Park, partner organisations and volunteers are in place at moorland vantage points throughout the National Park to look out for fires.

    It comes as firefighters in Lancashire continue to battle a wildfire which has been raging for five days.

    Sarah Fowler, from the Peak District National Park Authority, says visitors to the area must be extra careful as ground conditions on the moors are extremely dry, presenting a high fire risk:
