    A Nottinghamshire police dog is recovering after being attacked by another dog, external while officers were responding to a report of an assault in Eastwood.

    The force said the dog suffered "superficial injuries" during the incident in Wellington Street at about 04:30 yesterday.

    Two women, aged 30 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of affray along with two men, aged 20 and 35.

    The four have been released on police bail.

    An investigation into the flooding in Sutton-on-Trent earlier this year has found the main source of the flood water was a watercourse that runs through the centre of the village.

    On 2 June the stream overflowed due to two bursts of heavy rainfall, flooding 32 homes and businesses to the west of the village.

    The initial report was discussed at a Nottinghamshire County Coucil meeting earlier.Speaking about the results of the flood, Conservative councillor Bruce Laughton said "devastation would be an understatement”.

    Labour councillor Kevin Greaves said the flood was “cataclysmic”.

    The flooding in the Great North Road area was also found to be a result of Bulham Drain overflowing.

    Three people have been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking offences.

    The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority arrested two women, aged 36 and 33, and a 17-year-old boy in Shirebrook, Derbyshire yesterday morning.

    All three suspects, who are Romanian nationals, who were arrested for alleged offences under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

    Four women, also from Romania, were identified as potential victims and have been rescued and safeguarded.

    The operation was conducted with police officers from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

    More than £1.1m in funding has been made available across the East Midlands to tackle homelessness.

    The funding from central government is designed to be used for preventative measures and support for rough sleepers.

    Nottingham City Council has been awarded £461,819, while Leicester City Council received £349,668 and Derby City Council got £343,000.

    Nottingham's funding will be used to provide more accommodation, drug and alcohol detoxes and help to access permanent accommodation, according to the council.

    The transgender woman said she "felt humiliated" after a bank froze her account because she sounded like a man.

    Three men have been arrested in Nottingham on suspicion of intent to supply drugs.

    They were held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B after police were called to Phoenix Close, in the Meadows at around 13:00 yesterday.

    The men, aged 29, 30 and 35, have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

    The much-coveted Westminster Dog of the Year award has been claimed by a pair of border collies owned by MP Alex Norris.

    Boomer and Corona took the crown in the annual competition for MPs, organised by The Kennel Club and The Dogs Trust.

    Footage has been released showing the moment police officers chased down a serial bike thief at Pride Park in Derby.

    Scott Liddle, 37, had tried to ride away from officers after being confronted near Derby railway station.

    Yesterday he was jailed for 36 weeks for theft, external and received a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from various parts of the city.

    A police cordon remains in place in Hawksley Road, Hyson Green, following a fatal stabbing yesterday.

    Two boys, aged 14 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    Police have described it as "an isolated attack, unconnected to recent incidents in other areas" and said there was "no further threat to the general public".

    A climber has been airlifted to hospital after his belay point gave way while abseiling in the Peak District.

    Edale Mountain Rescue said the man had leg and facial injuries after falling 10m (33ft) off Goliaths Groove.

    He was given "strong pain relief" and taken to the road on a stretcher where he was met by the Derbyshire Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance.

    He was then flown to the Major Trauma Unit in Sheffield for treatment.

    A second teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder, external following a fatal stabbing in Hyson Green.

    A man died in hospital after being found with stab wounds to his chest in Hawksley Road at about 17:40 yesterday.

    The 16-year-old suspect is being questioned this morning after being arrested overnight.

    A 14-year-old boy arrested yesterday remains in custody.

    No further details have been released about the victim.

    A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash on the A607 in Melton Mowbray.

    The motorbike collided with a car just before 06:00 near Gaddesby Lane crossroads. The man on the motorbike was taken to hospital in Nottingham.

    Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and not yet spoken to police.

    Det Sgt Gary Haines said: "A motorcyclist has been seriously injured and it is important that we speak to everyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it."

    An 18-year-old man has become the 13th person to be arrested after a gunshot was fired in Radford, external.

    It happened in Tennyson Street on 3 August. Police say no-one was injured.

    The teenager was arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

    Six people have already been charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and affray.

    There were more than 50 victims of human trafficking in Derbyshire last year, it has been revealed.

    A Derbyshire County Council report said in 2017 there were 53 people illegally brought into the country by others for criminal purposes from an array of countries, including Vietnam, Latvia, Czech Republic, China and India.

    The report said the victims - which included 21 children - have been held against their will and exploited - often for manual labour and prostitution - through the use of violence, deception or coercion.

    Car washing, nail bar work, warehouse operations, meat processing and cannabis farm work were mentioned among the activities the victims had been forced to undertake.

    It said the victims were offered "appropriate support" from the National Referral Mechanism after being found.
