    Two men who were seriously injured in an explosion in Glen Parva yesterday remain in hospital.

    Police were called to a property in Leicester Road at 15:10 following reports of an explosion in an outbuilding at the address, where work to the building was being carried out.

    Enquiries at the scene confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

    The two men were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where they remain with serious injuries.

    The Health and Safety Executive is now leading the investigation.

    The coroner at the inquest into the deaths of five people killed in the King Power Stadium helicopter crash said a final cause of death could not be stated until further tests were carried out.

    Catherine Mason said: "Therefore I am not in a position to continue with the inquest at this time."

    No date has been set for the inquest to resume.

    A residential home for elderly people in Belper has appealed for people to donate pub-related items for its new bar area.

    Stephanie Shaw, from Belper Views Residential Home, said: "The home is small and some of our residents have severe mobility issues, which makes going out incredibly difficult.

    "We have created a small bar area so that we can organise pub-themed activities throughout the week which all residents can access."

    Police are handing out leaflets, external in a bid to find a sex pest who reportedly grabs women and teenagers as he rides past on a bike.

    It's thought the man has struck at least 18 times in Derby city centre since July.

    The leaflets include an image of a man police want to speak to about the sexual assaults.

    Det Sgt Ryan Hockley said: “We believe that the incidents are all connected and we would like to identify the man in the images as we believe he may have information vital to our enquiries."

    A Nottinghamshire MP has called for an urgent clampdown on a new generation of cheap drugs, saying they are behind growing social problems in the county.

    The Conservative MP for Mansfield, Ben Bradley, said so-called "synthetic cannabinoids" - often known as "mamba" or "spice" - have more in common with heroin than cannabis.

    He's called a special Commons debate to warn that their use has led to a spike in anti-social behaviour, saying: "I’ve spoken to many local services in Mansfield and Nottinghamshire and seen first hand the impact of these drugs on our town centres.

    "Synthetic cannabis is one of the cheapest drugs on the market but also one of the strongest."

    An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the deaths of five people who died as a result of a helicopter crash at the King Power Stadium.

    Coroner, Catherine Mason, held the eight-minute proceeding at Leicester Coroners Court.

    Giving evidence during the eight-minute hearing in Leicester was Det Ch Supt David Sandall, from Leicestershire Police, who was the senior identification manager.

    He told the inquest CCTV footage taken from the tunnel on to the football pitch and mobile phone footage showed the helicopter taking off and spinning out of control.

    Mr Sandall went on to say there had been minimal opportunity for anyone to get in or out of the helicopter because of the fire.

    The five deceased, including Foxes chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

    The cause of the crash is ongoing and being investigated by the AAIB.

    Police are appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy was attacked by a group in Markeaton Park.

    The boy was left with minor injuries after being assaulted by a group of youths on 24 October at about 17:15, officers said.

    One of the offenders is described as a white male about 5ft 8in tall and of stocky build with short blonde hair.

    Police also want to trace an elderly man, who spoke with a Welsh accent and used a walking stick, and is thought to have helped the boy who had been assaulted.

    An investigation into a fire at Nottingham's cattle market in Meadow Lane has determined it was started deliberately, police have said.

    Police are now investigating the blaze which started at about 17:40 on Sunday and significantly damaged six businesses.

    A poppy "picked from Flanders Fields in 1915" is on display in a Leicestershire church.

    The flower was discovered in the 1990s by Wigston man Duncan Lucas, who found it in a bible which belonged to his uncle, Lesley Forian, who served in World War One.

    Mr Lucas said: "We left it in the New Testament. It had been in there for 90 odd years so it was the safest place to leave it.

    "It’s in a glass case so its safe, it's locked up and it has a cover over it when the public aren’t looking at it.

    "It’s unique in England. I don’t think you can find it anywhere else."

    The Imperial War Museum confirmed its authenticity and it's now on display at Wigston Reformed Church.

    Leicester City's longest serving player, Andy King, has penned an emotional tribute to late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

    Writing in The Sunday Times, external, King said: "The memories and experiences Vichai created, of winning the league, of our whole journey, have been great not only for the players but those closest to us.

    "Our friends and families know none of it would have been possible without him."

    King said the goal was to try to continue Vichai’s work in his memory.

    The midfielder is the only member of the squad still at the King Power Stadium from when Mr Vichai took over the club in 2010.

    The A511 remains closed in Woodville, Derbyshire, after a crash between a lorry and a motorcycle this morning.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene of the crash on Ashby Road at the junction with Hepworth Road but said no patients were taken to hospital.

    Long delays are expected between Woodville and Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Nottingham.

    Police were called at 21:43 yesterday to reports that a man had been stabbed in the chest at an address in Beardsley Gardens in The Meadows.

    The 27-year-old arrested remains in police custody.

    Officers said the victim and the man arrested are "known to each other" and believe this was "an isolated incident".

    A police cordon is in place and an investigation is ongoing.

    Plans to invest £367m in Leicester's hospitals and health services have been revealed.

    Health bosses said there were three main projects they would like to complete if cash is secured from the government.

    These are a new build £138m treatment centre at the Glenfield Hospital site, an £88m maternity hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the extension of the Kensington building to house a £35m children's hospital.

    The plans are being discussed with members of the public at a series of engagement events.

    Two crashes happened in quick succession near Junction 1 of M69 yesterday afternoon, resulting in a woman being trapped and serious damage to two lorries.

    The first was a three-vehicle crash, a woman suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries after her car rolled leaving her trapped.
