    Police are hunting for a man who barged his way into an elderly woman's home and stole money from her purse, external.

    The robber had knocked on the door of the woman's house off Manor Road in Littleover and asked her for cash.

    When she refused he forced his way into the house and helped himself to money from her purse.

    Derbyshire Police said they wanted to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the robbery, which happened at about 16:50 on Monday.

    Two bodies found in Glenfield on Tuesday have been formally identified by police.

    A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were found dead in a house in Tatlow Road after police were called on Tuesday when a member of the public became concerned.

    Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths. Their identities have not yet been released and the matter has been referred to the coroner.

    A union representing workers at a Nottinghamshire print company says plans to go on strike in a dispute over pay have been put "on hold" after negotiations with management resumed.

    Unite said its members at Paragon Customer Communications had voted by 78% in favour of the walk-out in protest at the company's pay offer.

    However, the industrial action has been halted for now as talks continue.

    Unite said it represented about half the estimated 260-strong workforce at the Sutton-in-Ashfield firm.

    “We are pleased that constructive talks are now taking place with the management on pay issues," said regional officer Larry McGlinchey.

    Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of stealing an Audi A3 in Leicester last night.

    The owner was sitting in a car in Grasmere Street when a group of men in another car pulled up alongside him.

    Two men got out and threatened the victim with a knife before stealing the Audi, which was later found in Hamilton.

    Two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old from Leicester were arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently in police custody.

    A 1.4 mile section of Derbyshire's Tissington Trail is to close for seven weeks in the new year for resurfacing.

    The work will take place between the Thorpe car park and Spend Lane Bridge from 7 January to the end of February.

    The stretch is also being widened and ditch and drainage work will be carried out.

    The Peak District National Park Authority said it had deliberately scheduled the work for the quietest time of the year to minimise disruption.

    Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been nominated for the 2018 Confederation of African Football Youth Player of the Year award.

    The six-strong shortlist also includes Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Borussia Dortmund on loan from Real Madrid, and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié.

    The winner will be announced in Dakar, Senegal, on 8 January.

    Two lanes of the M1 heading north have been closed because of a car fire.

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service is currently tackling the blaze, which is between Junctions 26 and 27.

    Highways England say there is approximately three miles of queuing traffic.

    Two cats who died on the same street within days of each other suffered a suspected antifreeze poisoning.

    The owner of one-year-old Timothy, who had to be put down, wants pet-owners to be careful with how they store the substance.

    The pets died on 11 and 14 of November in Leicester. The RSPCA today announced it is investigating the circumstances but also took the opportunity to make people aware of the signs of poisoning.

    These include vomiting, seeming depressed or sleepy and having seizures or difficulty breathing.

    Some Christmas joy for commuters - Severn Trent works in Birstall are due to be finished three months early.

    Work to replace 3km of Victorian pipes on Wanlip Lane was due to finish in spring 2019 but instead it will be complete by Christmas.

    Video footage has been released of three men wanted by police after a shopkeeper had his arm broken in an assault earlier this month, external.

    The short clip shows the trio entering the Baltika supermarket in Upperton Road, Leicester on Monday 5 November armed with baseball bats.

    The shopkeeper suffered a broken arm and a hand injury in the assault but police said it was "very lucky" he was not more seriously injured.

    They've appealed for anyone who recognises the men to get in touch.

    Police looking for a missing man in Leicester have discovered a body in a canal in Abbey Park.

    Formal identification is yet to take place but it is believed to be 48-year-old Paresh Patel who went missing earlier this month.

    A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out to establish how he died.

    Nottingham Forest's home match against Ipswich Town promises to be a colourful affair for more than just the football on Saturday.

    Captains of both teams will be sporting rainbow armbands and the corner flags will fly the pride colours.

    It is part of the club's efforts to show support for its LGBT+ fans, players and staff in a sport often criticised for not making them feel welcome enough.

    Nottinghamshire writer and campaigner Paris Lees is to become the first trans person to write a regular column in Vogue.

    The Life-Changing Power Of... column will run fortnightly in British Vogue and focus on her millennial life as a woman living in London.

    Lees, from Hucknall, thanked editor Edward Enninful for "the fresh life he's breathing into this iconic brand".

    Earlier this year, she also became the first openly trans person to be featured in British Vogue.

    A property has been damaged and a man has been taken to hospital after a gun was fired in Derby.

    Police were called to Tayberry Close in the Alvaston area just after 01:30 this morning.

    They've said the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is still in its early stages but they believe it was an isolated incident.

    The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

    Jewellery, cash, a handbag, milk and cakes have been stolen from a house in Sheepy Magna.

    A brand new VW Golf car was also taken by burglars who got the key from inside - it happened between 03:00 and 08:00 today.

    Police have said another property was also targeted at about 18:30 last night in Orton on the Hill but offenders failed to get inside.
