    Two students from Nottingham Trent University have died in a crash, external.

    Philippa Bartram (left), 20, and Rebecca Ward, 22, were killed when their Fiat 500 and a Mini Cooper collided on the A628 Woodhead Pass in South Yorkshire on Saturday.

    A third woman in their car was seriously injured. A man and a woman in the Mini Cooper suffered minor injuries.

    The families of both women have paid tribute and asked for privacy.

    Philippa Bartram's family said in a statement: "She was our world and our joy and we were so proud of her, but our lives have been shattered by what has happened.”

    Rebecca Ward's family said: "Becky was a beautiful girl both inside and out who enjoyed life to the full."

    This is the scene on the M1 southbound where two lanes are closed following a crash. It appears a lorry is among the vehicles involved.

    Highways England says there are delays of 20 minutes against expected traffic but is estimating things should be back to normal by 12:30.

    The family and girlfriend of a man who was murdered in February have paid tribute to him after his killers were jailed.

    Roman Hemmings, 20, and Sero Hemmings, 18, were jailed for life at Leicester Crown Court after being found guilty of the murder of Ashley Johnson.

    In a letter to Mr Johnson, his mother Karen and brothers Aaron and Lee, said: “You are and always will be missed, you were a son, brother, uncle and true friend.

    “No words can be written to express our sadness at losing you and not a day goes by that you are not thought of and missed."

    His girlfriend, Chelsea, described him as "the most loving and caring man".

    Two brothers have been jailed for life for murdering a 24-year-old man in Leicester.

    Roman Hemmings (right), 20, and Sero Hemmings, 18, denied stabbing Ashley Johnson but were found guilty following a 12-day trial at Leicester Crown Court.

    They were given life sentences with minimum terms of 20 years and 10 years respectively.

    Leicestershire Police said Mr Johnson was stabbed following an argument in Fosse Road North, external in the early hours of 24 February.

    The brothers were in a black Peugeot and followed a silver Vauxhall Astra, which Mr Johnson and three friends were in, before getting out and stabbing the victim after a comment was made about how the Peugeot was being driven.

    A new brewery is open for business at the cattle market in Melton Mowbray.

    Round Corner Brewing is the work of two friends, Colin Paige and Combie Cryan, who have been working towards the goal of opening their own brewery for the past 15 years.

    Head brewer Colin Page said: “Most people think of wine as an agricultural product and beer as being rather industrial but we want to show people that making beer has agriculture at its heart.

    "We source our ingredients as locally as possible and we donate our spent grain to local farmers for their animals, it’s great to be part of this great agricultural community."

    Manchester City edged through to the Carabao Cup semi-finals by beating Leicester City 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium.

    The Foxes fell behind following a classy goal by Kevin De Bruyne with 14 minutes gone, but equalised in the closing stages when substitute Marc Albrighton fired home after latching on to Wilfred Ndidi's ball over the top.

    A low-quality shootout saw the home side miss three penalties while a dinked attempt went wrong for England's Raheem Sterling before Ukraine left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko emphatically thumped the decisive kick into the top corner to send his side through.
