    There's a police cordon around a Carphone Warehouse store in Leicestershire after it was driven into by a car.

    It happened just after midnight last night at the Fosse Park store. Police said they were alerted by on-site security.

    Four people were seen leaving the car after the crash and going inside the shop.

    It's thought they then left the scene carrying bags but it's not yet known what was stolen.

    Police want to speak to two teenage girls who were seen being grabbed by boys in a Derby shopping centre.

    Officers heard about the sexual assault while investigating reports that two boys "exposed their backsides" to shoppers.

    According to a witness two boys of the same description - white, around 14, dressed in dark clothing and with Eastern European accents - then approached a group of girls and grabbed two of their bottoms.

    They ran off after they were "robustly challenged" by the girls. It happened at around 17.45 near Claire’s on Crown Walk in the Intu centre on 18 February.

    The operator of Leicestershire theme park Twinlakes has been fined after one of their workers lost four fingers and a thumb on a circular saw.

    Northampton Magistrates’ Court heard how the staff member was cutting wood on 9 October 2017. After pressing the stop button he tried to collect the wood, but when he reached inside the still-spinning saw, the blade took off the digits of his right hand.

    An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found the saw did not have a brake to stop the blade after it was switched off and the company had not trained the employee properly in the use of the machine.

    On 14 February B B & B Leisure Parks Limited of Ruby Farm, Blackawton, Devon pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety regulation and was fined £57,600 and ordered to pay costs of £1,874.80.

    In a statement, a company spokesman said they "deeply regret" the "isolated incident", they cooperated fully with the investigation and were supporting the employee.

    A woman has died after being found by emergency services at a house in Market Harborough.

    Police were called to Douglas Drive yesterday after concerns were raised at around midday.

    The woman was taken to hospital where she later died. Her death is being treated as unexplained.

    Investigations are ongoing and the house remains cordoned off.

    A councillor who called for Theresa May to be hanged "for treason" has resigned.

    Independent Rutland councillor Richard Alderman's resignation was received by Rutland County Council yesterday.

    Last year the 72-year-old posted comments on Facebook which also insulted or threatened MPs Diane Abbott and Anna Soubry.

    The ward member for Oakham South West admitted sending a menacing or grossly offensive message via the public communication network at Birmingham Magistrates' Court in September and was given an order and a curfew.

    The council said the outcome of complaints made to Rutland County Council under its Code of Conduct will be reported at the council’s next standards committee.

    A Nottinghamshire police officer has pleaded not guilty to assault.

    Matthew Thompson, 40, denied assault by beating of a man in Caxton Road, Nottingham, on 13 July 2018.

    He appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court today after the charge was brought following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

    PC Thompson, from Derby, will next appear at Loughborough Magistrates' Court on 25 March.

    Some of the planes involved in the fly-past honouring 10 airmen who died when their plane crashed in a park were spotted flying over Derbyshire and north Nottinghamshire this morning.

    The US bomber came down in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield, on 22 February 1944, killing everyone on board.

    A campaign started for a fly-past over the city and today thousands gathered to watch. It left the man who sparked it all, Tony Foulds, in tears.

    A Leicester man has admitted owning a gun, ammunition and class A drugs worth an estimated £100,000.

    Police say they found the weapon, heroin and cocaine when they searched an address in the village of Scraptoft.

    Liam Chambers, 27, of Nursery Road, pleaded guilty to possession of the revolver, two counts of possession of ammunition and two counts of possession of a class A drug with intent to supply when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court yesterday.

    He was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on Friday March 1.

    Police are appealing for information after reports of a "loud bang" on Darby Street, Derby at around 1:30 this morning.

    Police found damage had been caused to a property on the street and are asking for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

    Chris Leslie, MP for Nottingham East, has said Shamima Begum, the London teenager who joined the Islamic State group in Syria, should be brought back to the UK.

    Ms Begum, who left Bethnal Green, east London in 2015, is living in a refugee camp in northern Syria and gave birth to a son last weekend.

    Speaking on Question Time last night, Mr Leslie said: "We also have an obligation as we have a baby involved in this case, so this is a really difficult moral conundrum."

    Ms Begum's family are challenging the Home Secretary's decision to revoke her British citizenship.

    Her sister has written to Sajid Javid, saying they will go to court.
