A 12-year-old girl who needs to find a lifesaving stem cell match is calling on people to become bone marrow donors in Nottingham.
Lilya Coleman Jones, who was diagnosed with leukemia in November, is running a series of events with the Anthony Nolan register to help people like her who need a transplant.
Her mother, Helen Jones, said: "She said 'I know it's probably not going to help me but if could help somebody else then that would be brilliant', which was astonishing, to be honest, given everything she's gone through."
Her family have been ruled out as potential donors so she is now relying on a complete stranger for a match.
Fernwood School pupil Lilya said: "I really want to do this to raise more awareness and get people to donate so they can help people like me."
Five events are being held across the city today at Loxley House, Council House, Central Library, Bulwell Riverside and Clifton Library with further events tomorrow and on Saturday, external.
