    A man has been stabbed in his shoulder and back after he refused to hand over his mobile phone to two men in Leicester.

    It happened early this morning in Bede Park.

    The man in his 20s was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries but nothing was stolen.

    No-one has been arrested.

    A driver has been banned after crashing into the back of a lorry on the A54 between Buxton and Congleton.

    It happened when Scott Lowe, 30, from Brimington in Derbyshire, attempted to overtake three vehicles on Tuesday 14 May.

    Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

    Lowe, of Cornwall Close, pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving and was given a 1- month driving ban, one-year community order and ordered to pay £170.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed it is currently at the scene of the "medical emergency" which is affecting trams in Nottingham.

    An ambulance and a separate paramedic were sent to Queens Road just after 15:00.

    Meanwhile, East Midlands Ambulance Service has said they were called to junctions 22 and 23 of the M1 northbound at 12:14 to a crash.

    One ambulance attended and a patient was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

    The service later received a call at 12:50 to another crash between junctions 23A and 24. They said one patient was treated at the scene.

    Attempts to find the remains of one of Henry VIII's key advisers in Leicester are "unlikely to succeed" according to the city's archaeologist..

    Cardinal Wolsey - who developed Hampton Court Palace - is believed to be buried in Abbey Park.

    He was travelling from York to London to face a charge of treason when he died at Leicester Abbey on 29 November 1530.

    But despite the successful rediscovery of Richard III in the city seven years ago, city archaeologist Grahame Appleby says any remains discovered could be indistinguishable from other abbots or clerics buried in the same era.

    A man has appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm.

    It relates to an assault on a 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman at an address in Leicester last year.

    A 42-year-old man, of no fixed address, was remanded into custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court on 16 September.

    Leicestershire Police have confirmed no-one was injured in the multi-vehicle crash at junction 23A of the M1.

    The force is still waiting for information on any injuries in the crash between junctions 22 and 23.

    Two crashes have closed part of the northbound carriageway of the M1.

    Highways England said a crash involving a car, caravan and an LGV is blocking the road between junction 22 and 23. The vehicles are being now recovered.

    Slightly further up, a multi-vehicle crash occurred at junction 23A - two lanes are now open past the scene.

    Highways England added there are currently at least 40 minutes of delays back to junction 21A.

    Officers posted the photo on Facebook, external, saying the vandalism occurred on Tuesday night while they were making inquiries at an address in Rosliston.

    A man has been injured in a crash involving a car and a motorbike.

    Nottinghamshire Police were called to the A57 near Worksop following the collision just before 10:45.

    The road is closed from the junction with the A614 (Five Lane End) to the Manton Wood Roundabout.

    There are concerns for a 37-year-old man's safety after he went missing missing from the Hucknall area.

    James Reah went missing on Tuesday, and police have issued an appeal to trace the man.

    He is described as white, 5ft 11in tall, with mousy blonde hair.

    He was last seen wearing camouflage bottoms, a grey Lee Cooper hooded top, blue Nike trainers and a black rucksack.

    East Midlands Trains are on the search for a toy cat called Penny, after a chlid left it on one of their services.

    The child left it on the 13:29 train from Sheffield to London St Pancras on Wednesday.

    The note describes the toy as having no whiskers, a "peach bit of thread on its left foot" and green eyes.
