    A Leicestershire police officer is swapping the Clock Tower for the Caribbean as he starts a new career as Superintendent of Police for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

    Ch Supt Martyn Ball is due to call time on his three decades with the force on 21 October before flying out to take up his new role just a few weeks later.

    The islands are a British overseas territory which take about an hour to reach by plane from Miami.

    Mr Ball said: "Part of my new role will be head of the marine and aircraft units – something we don't really have a need for here in Leicestershire.

    "In some ways it's going to be very different – the sheer size difference in population and police force, as well as some of the types of crimes I'll have to deal with - but the policing values and principles remain the same."

    An explosive device, found in Leicestershire, has been "safely" detonated, police have said.

    Officers were called just before after 17:45 on Sunday to Woodhouse Eaves.

    Leicestershire Police said a 100-metre cordon was put in place before explosive ordnance disposal operators removed the device, believed to be a World War Two unexploded bomb.

    It was taken to a safe location where it was detonated and the cordon was removed, the force added.

    No homes were evacuated.

    Accounting firm Deloitte is planning to close four offices, including its site in Nottingham, as it seeks to focus more on home working.

    The company says the move will not affect jobs, with the proposed changes being around "bricks and mortar... not our presence in these regions".

    Stephen Griggs, Deloitte UK managing partner, said: "Covid-19 has fast-tracked our future of work programme.

    "We are proposing our Gatwick, Liverpool, Nottingham and Southampton offices will permanently close."

    The firm, which says there are about 500 people who work across the four offices, is now consulting with workers about the plan.
