  2. Single local authority could save £30mpublished at 14:46

    The chief executive of Age UK Oxfordshire says creating a single unitary authority, alongside a rethink on funding cuts, is needed to save care services in the county.

    Paul Cann says budget cuts would impact vulnerable people and that by merging local councils some £30m a year could be saved. 

    He also called on central government to increase the funding allocated to Oxfordshire, adding: "They've got to think again. This will result in hardship."

    A man sat next to a 20-year-old woman who was travelling on a bus from Oxford to Chipping Norton, and followed her when she got off.

    He then grabbed her and exposed himself to her outside The Fox pub at about 01:30.

    A planning application's been submitted for the construction of 16 flats on the Salford Road site of the Jack Russell pub.

  5. Twelve-year-old boy assaulted in Banburypublished at 13:59

    A 12-year-old boy who was cycling to school in Banbury with a friend was grabbed by a man, external and had his bike pushed into the road.

    The boy was not injured and nothing was stolen in the incident that took place at Middleton Road at about 08:00 on Thursday 17 December.

    The offender was described as white, slim and in his 40s. He may have an Australian accent.

    Some say it dates back to the English Civil War, others believe it's a family name.

    On South Today this afternoon: Two hospital trusts in the South made the most money from car parking charges last year, compared to the rest of the country.

    A Freedom of Information Act request found the trust that runs Southampton General Hospital earned the most - nearly £4m - while the second highest amount was generated by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

    The closure of the Lucy Faithfull Hostel for homeless people is just the start of cutbacks for rough sleepers, according to the deputy leader of Oxford City Council.

    A new scheme designed to support the development of learning disability services and share good practice has gone live after a pilot.

    The Quality Checkers Service, external was commissioned by the county council, and involves experts from My Life My Choice and Oxfordshire Family Support Network reviewing services and reporting recommendations and improvements.

  13. Trust size behind parking charges totalpublished at 11:34

    The size of the car parks operated by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the reason it has raised £3.7m in parking charges, the trust says.

    It was the second highest amount raised in the country, but in a statement it said its charges are lower than many hospitals in the country.
