  1. Council leader hints at deal for Oxford Stadiumpublished at 09:45

    The leader of Oxford City Council says the authority could buy the Oxford Stadium to bring it back to its former glory.

    More than 100 people attended a public meeting about the future of the stadium last night.

    Concerns were raised about a lack of action since the owners GRA were denied planning permission for housing a year ago. The speedway and greyhound track has been closed since 2012.

    Bob Price, leader of Oxford City Council, says the authority will consider applying for a compulsory purchase order to return it to its former use.

  2. Man charged over Oxford and Chipping Norton sex offencespublished at 09:27

    A man has been charged in connection with sexual offences in Oxford and Chipping Norton, external late last year.

    Sam Pearce, 26, of no fixed address, was charged with offences including rape and sexual assault.

    He was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court later today.

  3. Oxfordshire child care target missedpublished at 09:08

    An official target for housing children in care within Oxfordshire has been missed by the county council, figures show.

    Eighty-three children were placed out of county in the last six months - more than its official target of 70.

    Oxfordshire County Council says the majority of children are placed within the county, and it is working to reduce the number of out-of-county placements by increasing recruitment and building four new children's homes.

  4. Pipeline project 'not stalled', councillor insistspublished at 08:49

    A trench that's been dug for a multi-million pound pipeline between the Churchill and John Radcliffe hospitals has been filled in after contractors were told they needed planning permission.

    Vital Energi suspended construction yesterday following a letter from Oxford City Council.
