  6. Safety fear over Barton Farm link roadpublished at 17:17

    Residents in Barton, Oxford, want a link road stopped because they fear it will put children at risk.

    The road off Foxwell Drive is being put in to provide bus and emergency access to the A40 and new Barton Park development.

    The Northway Residents Association is concerned that it will allow children, who play in the area, to get on to the A40.

  7. Travel latest: Flooding affecting minor roadspublished at 16:58

    Localised flooding is continuing to cause problems across the county with several road closures in place:

    • Hyde Road in West Hanney is partially blocked at Church Street
    • Old Wharf Road in Longcot is closed near Claypit Lane 
    • Lower Road in Long Hanborough is partially blocked at the A4095 Main Road
    • There's flooding on the A4095 Main Road in Long Hanborough near Lower Road
    • Lower Street in Islip is closed in both directions between Mill Street and Middle Street

    The fire service has urged drivers to drive with caution.

  9. Southern Health NHS trust accepts regulator's interventionpublished at 16:43

    Southern Health has agreed with health regulator Monitor to take steps to show it is improving, after a report found it failed to investigate hundreds of deaths.

    The trust's chief executive has apologised and said it had already begun implementing changes.

  10. Monitor expert to help trust 'fix problems'published at 16:29

    Southern Health NHS trust, which failed to properly investigate hundreds of deaths of patients in its care, is to be monitored by an external expert.

    Health watchdog Monitor has appointed an "improvement director" to work with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

    It comes after an inquiry was ordered in the wake of Connor Sparrowhawk's death while in Southern Health's care.

    A planning application for a pipeline connecting the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals in Oxford has now been submitted.

    Last week Vital Energi filled in trenches that had already been dug on All Saints Road in Headington after learning they needed permission to carry out the work.

    The pipeline is part of a new heating system that's costing nearly £15million, but which it is claimed will cut Oxford University Hospitals Trust annual heating bills by 45%.

    Junior doctors have been urged to return to the negotiating table by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who described their strike as "completely unnecessary".

    A wreath has been laid at the churchyard where Agatha Christie is buried to mark the 40th anniversary of her death.

    The crime novelist is buried at St Mary's Church in Cholsey, near her former home.

    Pupils from nearby Cholsey Primary School took part in the ceremony and helped to lay the wreath.

    Only emergency cover is being provided during the 24-hour walk out which is over a new contract.
