  1. Junior doctors strike: Picketers gather outside hospitalspublished at 10:16

    Junior doctors have been picketing outside the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

    They are among thousands across England who have walked out over a new contract.

    The government says it wants to make it easier for hospitals to get doctors to work at weekends to improve patient safety.

    Health secretary Jeremy Hunt says: "We have been talking for two-and-a-half years and they have refused to engage on this issue."

  2. Flood alerts in place across Oxfordshirepublished at 10:07

    More than a dozen flood alerts, external are in place in Oxfordshire, according to the Environment Agency.

    Several are in place along the River Thames and its tributaries, as well as the Ock, Thame, Cherwell, Glyme and Evenlode.

    A flood alert means flooding is possible and residents should be prepared.

    Some minor roads are impassable following heavy rain over the past few days. The weather is expected to become drier over the next week.

    She lived at Winterbrook with her husband from 1934 until her death in 1976.  

    A wreath will be laid in St Mary's churchyard in Cholsey, where's she's buried, later.

  5. Junior doctors strike: 'Contract is dangerous for patients'published at 09:34

    Junior doctors in Oxfordshire say they feel today's strike action is "an act of last resort" against a "dangerous" new contract drawn up by the government.

  6. FA Cup: 'Genuine chance of Oxford getting through'published at 09:15

    Following the news that Oxford United are to meet Newport or Blackburn in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Daniel Whitley said on Facebook, external: "There's a genuine chance of Oxford getting through to the fifth round with that fixture (both Newport and Blackburn are low table in their respective leagues, in a similar fashion to Swansea)."

  7. Social care payments spent on computers and phone billspublished at 09:05

    Money given to people to pay for their care was spent on items such as mobile phone bills and Apple computer equipment, a council audit has found.

    Oxfordshire County Council spent £25m in 2014-15 on direct payments to support about 1,770 social care users.  

    But an internal review has found "insufficient controls in place" to ensure money was not being misused.

  8. FA Cup: Fazackerley hoping for Blackburn reunion in 4th roundpublished at 08:50

    Oxford United's assistant manager is hoping his side will face Blackburn in the fourth round of the FA Cup, after heavy rain on Saturday forced Rovers' match against Newport to be postponed.

  10. Junior doctors strike: Emergency services 'operating as usual'published at 08:18

    Oxford University Hospitals Trust says emergency services will continue as normal throughout today's strike by junior doctors.

  11. Travel latest: Flooding causing problemspublished at 08:15

    • Lower Street in Islip is closed in both directions between the B4027 Mill Street junction and the Middle Street junction, because of flooding
    • There's also flooding on Sandford Lane in Kennington at the Kennington Road junction
    • On the A34, there's a lane blocked on the entry slip road from the roundabout northbound at Milton Interchange in the roadworks area, because of a broken-down car
