    A public appeal, external for information's being made by police searching for a 24-year-old women from Oxford.

    Lauren Glasgow hasn't been seen by her family since last May, and was last spoken to in London in August, but was reported missing in January.

    She has links to Putney and is described as being 4ft 6ins and slim.

  9. Oxfordshire County Council responds to proposals for it to be abolishedpublished at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    The county council has welcomed proposals from Oxfordshire's five district council to replace the county council with three or four unitary councils, recognising that unitary councils are more efficient than districts.

    But, its deputy leader, Rodney Rose, says it would mean the creation of four services where there's currently one for things like children and adult social services, and has invited the districts to lay out more details.

    The search for the three workers who have been missing since part of the boiler house at Didcot A Power Station collapsed on Tuesday has been continuing throughout today.

    Here are some of the key points from the latest information we have:

    • One man has died following the collapse and has been named on social media as Mick Collings
    • Three men remain missing but it's considered "highly unlikely" they'll be found alive
    • Cranes and heavy enqineering equipment are being brought in to assist with the search
    • Oxfordshire's chief fire officer, Dave Etheridge, has described the operation as the "most technically challenging" he has encountered
    • The building was due to be demolished and the Health and Safety Executive will be investigating

  11. Oxford man robbed in 'particularly nasty attack'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    A 25-year-old man was left unconscious after being hit on the head several times with a metal rod by offenders who stole his phone in Oxford.

    He sustained cuts and bruising to his face, and was treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital before being discharged.

    It happened on Northfield Road, external last Friday at about 21:00.

    Det Sgt James Senior has appealed for anyone with information, external to contact police on 101.

    Sarah Robertson came to Didcot to lay flowers in memory of her friend Mick Collings who was named on social media as the person who died in Tuesday's building collapse at Didcot Power Station.

    Sarah says she used to go on bike rallies with Mick, who was a very keen motorcyclist.

    Police have offered a £10,000 reward for information, external connected to the murder of 20-month-old Sarah Dahane.

    She was found inside a property in Herald Way, Bicester on 16 May 2013.

    A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Sarah's mother, Angela Whitworth, who travelled to Kenya the day before and hasn't been seen since.

    Women's Super League Two side Oxford United have signed Nigeria striker Ini Umotong from Portsmouth.

    Oxfordshire County Council could be abolished under proposals revealed by the county's five district authorities, external.

    The county council's responsibilities would be transferred to three or at most four local unitary councils, external with a combined authority coordinating strategic services.

    The district authorities, which include Vale of White Horse District Council, will be submitting their plan to government.  

    Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, Matthew Barber says the move won't just save money, it'll also deliver better services and the current system is out of date.

    A woman whose husband was stabbed to death in a shop in Abingdon has taken her campaign for a change in the way knives are sold to Westminster.

    Gulsen Alkan has started a petition - and has been discussing it with MP Nicola Blackwood.

    Father of two Justin Skrebowski had been out shopping in December when he was attacked in the Poundland store.  

  19. Thames Valley drivers get more speeding tickets than anywhere elsepublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    More speeding tickets were handed out to drivers in the Thames Valley last year than anywhere else in the country. 

    More than 161,000 tickets were issued here in 2015, with North Yorkshire Police giving out the second highest number of tickets at just under 68,000.
