    Oxfordshire's chief fire officer, Dave Etheridge, has been talking about the challenge facing his crews.

    He says the wreckage pile is about 25m tall - which is taller than five double-decker buses stacked on top of each other.

  7. Concern over 'troubling' claims of anti-Semitism at Oxford University's Labour Clubpublished at 11:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2016

    The government's most senior lawyer, Jeremy Wright, has expressed concern over what he calls "troubling" claims of anti-Semitism at Oxford University's Labour Club, and called on the university to investigate them.

    It follows an allegation from a former officer of the club that many members "have some kind of problem with Jews".

    The Labour Party is already investigating the claim.

    The university's Labour Club has previously said it "whole-heartedly condemns anti-Semitic behaviour in all its forms."

    Didcot Mayor Des Healy says that there are plans to set up a book of condolence at Didcot's Civic Hall for the victims of Tuesday's power station collapse.

    He says more details should be announced later today so Didcot residents can pay respects.

    An Oxfordshire women has been talking to BBC Radio Oxford's Lilley Mitchell about the life changing impact of her cochlear implant.

    Fewer than 10% of adults who are severely or profoundly deaf, and would qualify for an implant on the NHS, actually have one. 

    But the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford has seen an increase in people seeking the operation, and Carol Cook from Benson has been sharing her story.

    The mother of Jayden Parkinson, who was murdered in 2013, says changes to how authorities deal with vulnerable teenagers have come "too late".

    She was speaking after report found that the way police and social services responded to the disappearance of Jayden was "fundamentally flawed".

    Oxfordshire's chief fire officer Dave Etheridge took time away from the operation to find three missing workers following the collapse of a building at Didcot to update listeners on BBC Radio Oxford.

    He says crews have been working "tirelessly" through the night.

    Here are few of the other keys points from his interview:

    • He says the families of the missing men came down to the site yesterday and met some of the rescuers
    • The fire service won't "step back from the challenge" facing them as they work to recover the missing people
    • They have to be careful because the remaining part building is very unstable
    • He says they have had support from all over the UK, and have the "very best expertise in the world" along with the "very best equipment" at their disposal
