The Save Oxfordshire Children's Centres Campaigners held numerous protests, including this one in November

Jill Huish made the comment after David Cameron told BBC Radio Oxford the county council's original proposals for cuts were wrong and he was "glad they've been amended".

Oxfordshire County Council says it understands the importance of the centres and wants to engage with communities more.

    Quote Message

Whatever David Cameron is saying, the council still went ahead with their plans to close the centres and replace them with these referral-only hubs. They're only targeted at 1,500 families. 19,000 children under five currently use children's centres.

  5. 'Unprecedented demand' for meningitis B vaccinepublished at 08:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2016

    BBC Radio Oxford

The available vaccine is being offered to newborn babies, who are at most risk from meningitis B

The Marston Pharmacy says it has not been able to stock the vaccine, and has been advised not to start any new courses as the manufacturer targets its stocks for NHS use, which immunises all babies born after May 2015.

    Quote Message

We can't get any vaccines but we have had hundreds of inquiries... telephone calls have been driving us crazy because there is just so much demand for it, it's unprecedented... GlaxoSmithKline has obviously been caught out by a massive increase in demand and quite rightly they're prioritising their stocks for at-risk patients.

  9. Clinics overwhelmed by meningitis B vaccine demandpublished at 08:24 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2016

Parents are turning to private providers because offering the vaccine to all children is "not cost effective" and would be a waste of NHS money, the government says.

    Quote Message

With this programme, our priority is to protect those children most at risk of Men B. The NHS budget is a finite resource... While this is extremely difficult for parents whose children aren't eligible, there is no other way of establishing new programmes to target those at highest risk without introducing inequalities.
