  3. How your Children in Need money funds Singing Medicinepublished at 17:43

    Singing Medicine is a Children in Need-funded project which has been delivered to wards at Birmingham Children's Hospital, once a week on a Friday, for the last 11 years.

    In 2013 we filmed with a little boy from West Bromwich who was waiting for a kidney transplant. He was very poorly but the arrival of the vocal tutors brightened up his day.

    We went back to the hospital to find out how he's doing.

  4. Firefighter "placed colleagues and victims at risk of harm"published at 17:35

    The Crown Prosecution Service says a part-time firefighter placed his colleagues and the victims of his fires at harm.

    David Pearson of Pontesbury, Shropshire, admitted conspiring to damage property by fire between 29 June 2014 and 3 September 2014, at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

    The CPS says some of his victims were known to him.

    “It is evident that David Pearson gained personal satisfaction and enjoyment from setting the fires and causing damage to property which, given his position as a fire-fighter, represents a substantial breach of trust," a spokesman said.

    A planned 48-hour strike by Arriva Trains Wales staff has been suspended after last minute talks.

    Members of the RMT and Aslef unions were preparing to walk out in an ongoing dispute over pay and conditions.

    Arriva said it wouldn't have been able to put on replacement bus services and a number of routes through Shropshire would have been affected.

    Matt Williams has made a big impact at Shrewsbury Town.

    He was instrumental in the appointment of the manager Mickey Mellon and oversaw promotion back to League One.

    Off the pitch, he’s made huge efforts to rebuild the relationship between the club and its fan base, which had become strained. It’s easy to see why a club the size of Burnley would seek to bring him aboard.

    A "roll of honour" with the names of over 5,000 people from Shropshire who lost their lives in war will be projected onto the side of the Market Hall in Shrewsbury this evening.

    The film will take almost seven hours to run and has been made by Whitchurch animator Andy McKeown.

    He produced it while working as Artist in Residence at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and we'll bring you photos later today.

  17. Donations to repair special school minibuspublished at 14:51

    Haughton special school in Madeley is thanking people who have sent in donations to repair its minibus.

    Thieves took the drive shaft from the vehicle on Monday night and the school says while the vehicle was insured, the garage-bill will be greater than the £1000 excess.

    It's not reached its target yet, but says every donation is gratefully received.

  18. Tomorrow's train strike: Who is affected?published at 14:39

    Aslef and RMT staff working for Arriva Trains Wales start a 48-hour strike tomorrow.

    It means all Arriva Trains Wales services are cancelled and the company says it can't put on replacement bus services. 

    In Shropshire it will affect Arriva services to Birmingham, Manchester, Holyhead and Pwllheli, as well as stations in South Wales, including Cardiff and Swansea.

    A part-time Shropshire firefighter's pleaded guilty to conspiring to cause a series of fires in the county last summer.

    David Pearson (31) from Station Road in Pontesbury, Shropshire, will be sentenced early in the new year after psychiatric reports.

    A colleague, 36 year old Kingsley Tolley from Albrighton was jointly charged, but he was found dead a number of days before a previous court appearance.
