    There are a number of roads closed in the county today, due to flooding:

    - Gravel Hill Lane and Old Coleham in Shrewsbury. 

    - Chiltern Farm Lane in Atcham and the Llandrinio bridge over the River Severn, north of Welshpool.

    The Flood barriers are up at the Wharfage in Ironbridge. 

    Frankwell and St Juilan Friars car parks in Shrewsbury are also closed.

    Telford Town Park has been voted the best in the UK.

    It came first in a contest held by the organisation Fields In Trust, external, a charity set up to protect the nation's parks, playing fields and playgrounds from development. 

  3. Calls for Government to prioritise funding for mental healthpublished at 09:02

    A Shrewsbury headteacher is calling on the government to prioritise funding to treat teenage mental health issues.  

    Budget cuts mean schools now have to pay for outside help, rather than getting it for free.

    The head of Meole Brace School in Shrewsbury, Hilary Burke, has ring-fenced money for mental health.  

    She says: "The mental health challenges for young people is an endemic problem across the whole of society and we ignore it at our peril."

  4. One of Shropshire's A&E Units could close at nightpublished at 08:44

    The trust that runs Shropshire's two acute hospitals could close one of the Accident and Emergency units overnight. 

    Health bosses in charge of the Royal Shrewsbury and Princess Royal Hospitals say they're considering the move because of staffing levels.

    At present there are only five or six consultants running the emergency departments. 

    The College of Emergency Medicine says there should be 20.
