  1. Driver in Knockin crash has 'numerous injuries'published at 13:15

    The ambulance service says a man in his 20's involved in the crash on the B4396 near Knockin this morning has "numerous serious injuries" and had to be flown to Royal Stoke University hospital for treatment.

    The driver of the other vehicle, a woman in her 30s, suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder and was taken to hospital in Shrewsbury.

    The councillor responsible for drawing up Telford and Wrekin's budget cuts has told BBC Radio Shropshire he didn't come into politics to reduce services.

    Lee Carter called the 194 proposed cuts a "horrible list" which made him want to close his eyes every time he looked at it.

    And the Labour councillor blamed the government for reducing the funding given to local authorities.

    This morning we heard how high river levels can be bad news for animals.

    John Hughes, from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, told us some otters have lost their homes on the land and the fast murky, fast flowing water is difficult to hunt in.

    This young otter was handed in to them on Christmas Eve, after it became separated from its parents in the Rea Brook. John said it probably wouldn't have survived on its own, but is now in the care of the RSPCA and is putting on weight.

  7. Rejected solar farm gets green lightpublished at 10:56

    A solar farm in the south Shropshire hills has been given the go-ahead, despite being rejected by Shropshire Council. 

    A planning inspector says the site near Acton Scott wouldn't cause significant harm.

    The 27-acre site at Henley Common, with panels 8ft (2.4m) high, would generate enough electricity for more than 1400 homes. 

    People living nearby and the parish council objected, but climate change campaigners supported the scheme and have welcomed the inspector's decision.

    Let's take a look at some of the numbers involved in those cuts Telford and Wrekin Council is proposing:

    - It's a two year budget strategy, taking the council to the end of March 2018

    - 194 potential cuts have been identified

    - 32 of those cuts are described as "significant" by the council

    - Six libraries could close or be passed over to the voluntary sector

    - £80m has been cut from the council budget since 2010

    - The council starts to consult on the plans on 8 January

    - The council meets to agree on its budget on 3 March

  10. Shropshire baker to star in TV showpublished at 09:55

    A Shropshire baker will be transported back in time for a BBC 2 programme set in Victorian times.

  11. Car lift plan for Bridgnorth homepublished at 09:24

    A south Shropshire architect is hoping to get around an access issue on land in Bridgnorth by building a car lift. 

    John Needham wants to build a five-bedroom house just off Granary Steps, but there's no way vehicles can get to the site.

    His plan is to build the lift on Friar's Street 30ft (9m) below the proposed plot, enabling cars to be transported up.

  13. Telford and Wrekin Council outlines £30m cutspublished at 08:51

    Telford and Wrekin Council is setting out how it plans to cut another £30m from its budget.

    It says it will have to stop funding a number of libraries, youth clubs, community centres and markets and will look for voluntary groups interested in taking them over.

    The authority will also ask residents if they'd pay higher taxes to reduce the level of cuts.

    Two cars and a lorry have crashed on the main road through Knockin near Oswestry. 

    Two people have been rescued, external - one man suffered serious injuries and took some time to free, the fire service say.

    The road is still closed while police investigate and may remain so for a while.
