Overnight, scattered showers will continue, but there will be some clear spells. Towards dawn a more persistent spell of rain will push south, with a wintry mix over higher ground.

Telford & Wrekin Council has requested a meeting with Business Secretary Sajid Javid over privatisation plans, external which could affect the future of a government office in the borough.

Telford and Wrekin Council is seeking a meeting with the government, over its plans to privatise the Land Registry in Telford, which employs about 300 people.
It's also written to the two local MPs to raise concerns about the threat to jobs in the area, if the proposal gets the go ahead. It's currently out for consultation.

An overhauled state pension - being paid to new, rather than existing pensioners - has begun, with some set to gain while others lose out.
The government's long-term aim is simplification, stripping away extras such as the second state pension.
It will also become cheaper, in time, for the government with many of those in their 20s and 30s receiving less than they would under the old system.

One of the stars of the England Women's World T20 cricket campaign is coming to Shropshire to help inspire the next generation of young cricketers.
Tammy Beaumont will lead coaching sessions at four Shropshire schools this coming Tuesday - Bishop's Castle Community College, Stiperstones Primary School, Mary Webb in Pontesbury, and Pontesbury Primary.
Tammy played in all five of England's games at the world finals, scoring 138 runs.

Shrewsbury Club's men's tennis team have booked their place to compete at the National Premier League finals, which start tomorrow in Leeds.
The competition features the country's best men's club doubles players who'll compete alongside world class players, for a top prize of £2,000.
The Shrewsbury Club qualified as winners of the Midlands group and are one of the top 16 teams in the country.
Captain of the team Alex Parry hopes the side can improve on their last appearance in the national finals, when they lost on a tie-break shoot out.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club is launching a writing competition to honour BBC journalist, Colin Bloomfield.
BBC Derby presenter, Colin, from Montford Bridge, lost his brave battle against skin cancer last April. The same day his beloved Shrewsbury Town won promotion back to League One.
The competition and award is aimed at getting young people involved in sports journalism, something Colin was passionate about.
There are two age groups - 10 to 15 and 16 to 18. You can write anything you like about football. It can be about you playing or watching, an interview with a player or a match report.

Tickets for a "jailbreak" event at Shrewsbury's former prison have been snapped up soon after going on sale.
Joel Campbell from Jailhouse Tours, external says the idea has been so popular he will be putting on another four events to meet demand.
Participants will be locked in cells and must use their wit and ingenuity to break free.

Dog owners who have not had their pets microchipped could face fines of up to £500, as a new law comes into force.
All dogs in England, Scotland and Wales are now legally required to be chipped by the time they are eight weeks old.

Shropshire is a step closer to joining the West Midlands Combined Authority, after cabinet members voted in favour of the move this lunchtime.
The authority is looking at signing up as a "non-constituent member", the same as Telford and Wrekin Council, with fewer voting rights than full members.
It would be less costly though. Non-constituent members pay £25,000 a year. Constituent members are paying a fee of £500,000 a year.

Telford's Dave Hibbert says he really enjoyed his return to the Greenhous Meadow in the Shropshire Senior Cup last night.
He spent three years with Shrewsbury Town, scoring 30 goals in all competitions.
And Hibbert was impressed with the quality of the pitch saying his teammates enjoyed the game, despite losing on penalties.
