The British Ironworks Centre is currently building a huge sculpture out of confiscated knives, many previously used in crimes or handed in during knife amnesties.
In all, sculptor Alfie Bradley hopes to incorporate 100,000 weapons and many of these are being delivered in lorries from police forces.
It is unclear how the bomb came to be at the centre.
The British Ironworks Centre has closed for the rest of the day.
West Mercia Police say they were called at 14:45 and experts from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are in attendance
Extra bomb disposal specialists are being called in and a controlled explosion is expected to be carried out later.
Staff at the Ironworks Centre say the suspected explosive device is believed to include about 450grams of a substance containing nitroglycerin.
This substance is not believed to be a danger to the public, but a 100m cordon has been established to ensure public safety, police say.

Bomb disposal experts have been called in to the British Ironworks Centre outside Oswestry.
The centre, which is creating a sculpture from confiscated knives, is working closely with police forces across the country, many of which are supplying weapons collected through knife surrenders.
