    Great Britain's Ice Hockey team needed overtime to beat Estonia at the World Championships in Zagreb.

    The side, which includes two Telford Tigers players in the squad, was denied late on by a strike from another Tiger - Estonia's Andrei Makrov (pictured), who tied the game at 3-3.

    But a goal from Robert Dowd was enough for GB to record their second win of the tournament.  

  3. Shrewsbury Town's groundsman crowned best in League Onepublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    Shrewsbury Town's head groundsman, Richard Barnett, has been named League One "groundsman of the season" by the Football League, external.

    The judging was done by referees, visiting managers and the Sports Turf Research Institute.

    Shrewsbury Town's Chief Executive Brian Caldwell told the club's official website, external they'd received a lot of compliments from opposing teams, despite the wet winter.

  5. Sex abuse suspect priest Father Ernest Sands found deadpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    A Roman Catholic priest arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse has been found dead on the day he was due to report to police.

    Father Ernest Sands, 67, was found dead on 11 April, it has emerged.

    Fr Sands, who lived in Oswestry, was arrested last year by Lancashire Police on suspicion of sexually abusing five boys at a Catholic seminary.

    A Lancashire Police spokesman said the death was not suspicious and his alleged victims had been informed.

  7. Plans for almost 300 new homes in Wellington get go-aheadpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 19 April 2016

    A Government-appointed planning inspector has ruled that a controversial plan to build homes on the edge of Wellington should go ahead, against the wishes of Telford and Wrekin council and people living nearby. 

    It means the proposal, near the cricket club off Haygate Road, now has outline permission, although the maximum number of homes has been restricted to 290 instead of the original 330.

    Telford and Wrekin Council is considering what, if anything, to do next.

    One of the county's footballing greats is being commemorated in the village where he grew up. 

    Hitchens Way, on a new housing estate in Highley, remembers the former Aston Villa and Inter Milan player Gerry Hitchens (pictured with the ball), who also scored five goals for England in the 1962 World Cup.

    Hitchens, who started out as a miner down the pits, died after a charity match in 1983 at the age of 48.

    The sister of Harry Greaves, the Shropshire man missing in Peru, says "today will be a critical day" in the search.

    Ellen Greaves says a yellow tent, spotted in a mountainous area, is almost certainly not his and the family say they need the authorities over there to take a bigger role.

    Ms Greaves said they'd paid £10,000 for a helicopter to spend four hours looking for him and now they want to spend another £25,000 to have it up for a whole day today.

    An donations page, external has been set up online, to fund the search and it has so far raised £23,000.

    A shortage of carers in rural parts of Shropshire means a man is having to go into a care home, separating him from his wife.

    Roger Breece, 76, from Market Drayton, had a stroke 13 years ago and his home has been specially adapted. 

    The care company says it's struggling to recruit people to work for them.

    How has Shrewsbury become home to some of the biggest names in the British comics industry?

    The town recently hosted the Cartoon Festival, but it's also home to the likes of Charlie Adlard - one of the artists behind the internationally successful series, The Walking Dead.

    Robbie Morrison, who worked on 2000 AD and co-created Nikolai Dante with Simon Fraser, is also based in Shrewsbury.  

    Morrison's partner Deborah Tate, who met him when she worked for Marvel in London, is another of the town's cartoon mafia.

    This week we are featuring the stories of some of the Shropshire people running the London marathon.

    Squadron Leader Adrian Vine from RAF Shawbury is taking part to raise money for Dementia UK, because his father suffered from the condition for several years before passing away two years ago.

    He has run the London marathon once before, in 2009.

    Relatives of Shropshire man Harry Greaves, who's gone missing in Peru, say the search area has been narrowed. 

    They're following up a reported sighting of the 29-year-old in the mountains last Friday. A tent similar to his, external has also been spotted. 

    Harry, who's from Bronygarth near Oswestry, told friends he was going to spend his birthday hiking on a mountain, more than a week ago.

    His family has flown to Peru to help with the search, including cousin Lucy Greaves.
