    The trust running hospitals in Shrewsbury and Telford says 124 staff are on strike today - part of the national junior doctors dispute.

    Over 550 appointments have been postponed as a result and there were pickets outside Telford's Princess Royal Hospital this morning.

    Shropshire's hospitals are facing a legal claim after a baby suffered a lack of oxygen during labour. 

    Staff had difficulty distinguishing between the mother's and baby's heartbeats, so didn't notice problems with the foetus. 

    The incident will be reported to the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals Trust board tomorrow.

    A Hanwood man who lost an arm after a motorbike accident in 1996 has found a new line of work as an "amputee actor".

    Lee Atkinson has worked alongside actors like Jackie Chan and Simon Pegg, fitting that in around his job as a door supervisor and working in a Shrewsbury deli.

    Lee is signed up with an agency called Magnum Services, external, which specialises in supplying actors who have lost limbs.

    Chemotherapy patients in the county will soon be able to use mobile phone apps to help manage the side effects, and reduce the number of emergency admissions.

    The county's two main hospitals in Telford and Shrewsbury are to pilot the use of apps which help monitor the effects of chemotherapy and inform patients when to seek care - rather than later use A&E.

    Plans for the next phase of Telford's Southwater development have gone on display this morning and they include a new 68-bedroom hotel.

    The council, external says there will also be space for new shops and some landscaping of the area near the ice rink.

    Shrewsbury Town Manager, Micky Mellon, is blaming himself, as part of the reason for Shrewsbury Town's derby defeat at Walsall last night.

    Three points would've guaranteed League One safety, but they lost 2-1.

    After half-time changes at 2-0 down, Mellon's side looked much better - but could only pull one goal back via Mat Sadler. 

    They're next in action against Peterborough at home on Saturday.

    A cat's been rescued from the engine compartment of a van in Tellford. 

    Firefighters from Tweedale were called to Birchmore on the Brookside estate, at 05:30 this morning to help the RSPCA.

    The Junior doctors' strike continues today

    Like yesterday, medics walked out of both emergency and routine care at 08:00 and will not return until 17:00.   

    There'll be a picket line outside the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford from 10:00.

    NHS leaders say hospitals coped well with yesterday's strike and are hoping less urgent patients will once again stay away from A&E.

    If you've ever thought that time passes more quickly as the years go by - you might be right. 

    Scientists in Brazil asked people to close their eyes and count out one hundred and twenty seconds. People under 30 were pretty good at it, they took an average of 115 seconds to get to the two minute mark.

    But the over 50s raced to 120 in an average of just 86 seconds.

    More than 1,000 people have come forward to report being victims of so-called revenge porn since a law against it came into effect, a year ago. 

    The practice involves sharing content such as nude pictures on the internet without consent.

    West Mercia Police have recorded 29 cases, but only a quarter ended-up with someone being charged or accepting a caution.

    The Conservative MP for the Wrekin thinks something needs to done, to make towns and cities quieter.  

    In a debate at Westminster, Mark Pritchard, said vehicle makers should be encouraged to fit low noise tyres, ambulances should switch-off their sirens at night and people on public transport should put their phones on vibrate

    One or two roadworks though may delay your journey. Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury is closed westbound at the Monkmoor Road junction, because of roadworks.
