    The man who died after being tasered by police in Telford last night is believed to be the former Aston Villa footballer Dalian Atkinson.

    The police have not yet formally identified the dead man, but people living in the area have named him to reporters.

    West Mercia's Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion, is reassuring people that there will be a full investigation into the death of a man after being Tasered in Telford last night.

    He said he will continue to monitor the case, whilst it is in the hands of the IPCC.

    And he said his thoughts and prayers were with the man's family.

    A man from Whitchurch who's waiting for a lung transplant, is urging more people to sign-up to become a donor. 

    Charlie Smith, 60, has walked across the Gobi desert and climbed the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. But he now struggles to leave his bed, because of a condition called pulmonary fibrosis. 

    Charlie's now waiting for a lung transplant and is hoping a matching donor can be found soon.

  5. Olympic swimmer dedicates medal to fatherpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    The Former Ellesmere College swimmer Chris Walker-Hebborn has dedicated his weekend Olympic medal to his dad Andy, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and so couldn't travel to Rio. 

    Walker-Hebborn was part of the GB swimming team that took silver in the 4x100m relay.

    The man Tasered by police in the Trench area of Telford this morning died shortly after arriving at hospital, the ambulance service says.

    The 48-year-old man went into cardiac arrest during the journey to the Princess Royal Hospital.

    The ambulance service said it had been called to an address on Meadow Close at 01:45 this morning.

    A man has died after being Tasered in Telford.

    West Mercia Police says officers were responding to concern for the safety of a 48-year-old man at approximately 01:30 today.

    The force says a Taser was fired at the man and he was given medical attention afterwards, but died at around 03:00

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.
