    Drivers are being warned parking restrictions are being introduced at several beauty spots in Shropshire to help with social distancing this bank holiday weekend.

    Roads around the Wrekin were crammed with cars last weekend and the narrow streets of Ironbridge filled with visitors due to lockdown easing, the council said, external.

    The local authority has now had cones placed on the road near the Wrekin to discourage illegal parking, suspended parking in parts of Ironbridge and will close the town square car park.

    Elsewhere, Shropshire Council said, external it wanted people to "stay local" to limit the number of visitors at its parks and added visitor centres, cafés, play areas and toilets at all of its sites would stay closed.

    Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is going to be provided to schools in Telford and it'll be up to them to decide when they can reopen safely, the council has said.

    The government has been looking for pupils to return to primary schools from 1 June although ministers have said it would only be if the scientific advice said it was safe to do so.

    Scores of councils have told the BBC they cannot guarantee that will happen and Telford and Wrekin Council said it would leave the decision to individual schools., external

    Leader Shaun Davies said: "My message very clearly is to schools, when you are ready to open safely then you should do and we are here to support you including buying PPE for you."

    The local authority said it would fund an initial allocation of PPE for each school in the area, including academies.

    One parent, Vicky Burman, told BBC Radio Shropshire she was happy for her 11-year-old twins to go back to Muxton Primary in Telford when the school decides to reopen.

    "We assessed it as a family, we're all in generally good health, don't have any underlying health issues, we don't need to have any caring responsibilities for relatives or anything like that who may have health issues," she said.

    As well as football clubs and their employees, there are thousands of businesses across the country that rely on matchday revenue.

    The Wild Pig pub - also known as the Brooklands Hotel - is a 10 minute walk from Shrewsbury Town's ground and is normally packed with home and away fans before and after games.

    A council grant and suspension of their Sky Sports subscription - normally costing £1,500 a month - has helped soften the blow but the financial hit has been hard nonetheless.

    "Part of the reason for taking over the pub was the benefit of the football," said James Hopkins, who became landlord in October.

    He told BBC Radio Shropshire: "Even when we reopen I don't think we're going to be seeing the football open as it was, as we know the norm.

    "We have no clue when we can reopen. Possibly at the earliest August - and then we're going to have to practise social distancing."

    Tributes are being paid to the Shropshire woman who became the first female president of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).

    Tennis Shropshire said Cathie Sabin, external, from Much Wenlock, had been battling cancer for some time and died at Shrewsbury Hospice.

    The 73-year-old, who was a former PE teacher at Idsall School and played Shropshire county tennis, took the role in 2013, the LTA's 125th year.

    The association said, external its former president would be "sorely missed by all of us in tennis in Britain and beyond".

    Andy Murray's mum Judy tweeted Mrs Sabin, external was an "incredibly warm, down to earth, special woman -- and an absolute tennis gem".

    Just a third of the car parking spaces will be available at Carding Mill Valley out of a normal total of 140 while the tea room and shop are staying closed.

    Other parts of the country have seen gridlock with people flocking to them in the warm weather and the mayor of nearby Church Stretton's said they're worried visitors might cause issues if they spill into the town.

    Bob Welch told BBC Shropshire: "We will respect your requirement to social distance, please respect the residents' desire to follow instructions to the letter."

    A mobility scooter's been stopped by police as it travelled along a dual carriageway.

    It was spotted by officers on the A5 in Shropshire between Shrewsbury and Wellington, external, a stretch with a 70mph speed limit for cars.

    While some motorised scooters can legally be driven on roads, external, police said mobility scooters and fast roads "are not a great combination".

    A number of markets have started reopening, with measures in place to keep people apart.

    A scaled-down outdoor market opens in Warwick on Saturday, with 10 stalls selling food, and a queuing system.

    And two of the stalls at Oswestry market, in Shropshire, have also reopened.

    Hope House Hospice, near Oswestry, Shropshire, is missing out on £500,000 a month in donations and fundraising events and having to use reserves to keep going.

    It relies almost entirely on income from fundraisers and would have expected money this spring from people running the London Marathon and from charity balls.

    The hospice is still bringing in £35,000 a week from its lottery, but has warned there's only enough money to keep going for another six months.
