    Shropshire Council says it is sending out school meal parcels to its "most vulnerable" families this half term.

    It is also promising to either repeat this at Christmas or introduce a voucher scheme for all the children who qualify for free school meals.

    Neighbouring Telford and Wrekin Council said last week it would be sending breakfast food parcels to all eligible children.

    It comes amid a row over the government's refusal to offer free school meals during the half-term holidays.

    A man has been freed by firefighters after getting trapped in a potato-harvesting machine.

    The emergency services were called to a farm near Stoke Heath, Shropshire, just after 16:00 on Monday and were able to free him using air bags and other tools.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said his injuries were not as serious as first thought and he was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford for treatment.

    Several workers have tested positive for Covid-19 at a savoury foods bakery in Shropshire, a food company has confirmed.

    Addo Food Group said it believed the staff at its Palethorpe Bakery in Market Drayton caught the virus outside the facility.

    The firm said it had strictly followed government guidance on screening, social distancing and handwashing, and the staff were self-isolating.

    Ben Millington and his students from Telford Priory School, in Shropshire, recorded songs on their mobiles from their bedrooms.

    Their version of I'm Still Standing found its way to the singer, Sir Elton John, who sent them a personal message to say it had "really cheered me up".

    Ben's been given a Telford and Wrekin Hero Award.

    Two people have been seriously hurt after a car ended up on its roof after a crash.

    A woman in the back seat had to be cut free by firefighters with all five in the car taken to hospital for treatment.

    Tributes have been paid to Frank Bough, one of the most familiar faces on BBC television from the 1960s to 1980s, who has died at the age of 87.

    Bough was born in Stoke-on-Trent and his family later moved to Oswestry, Shropshire, where he attended the local grammar school.

    He joined the BBC as a reporter and went on to present some of the corporation's most popular shows, including Grandstand and Breakfast Time.

    But his career was brought to an abrupt end by scandal.

    BBC Midlands Today's Nick Owen, who went up against Bough in Britain's breakfast TV battle on ITV's TV-AM in the 1980s, remembered him, external as "the ultimate broadcaster who combined news and sport brilliantly".

    Astrologer Russell Grant, a regular on Breakfast Time, said, external Bough was "a great man to work with" and was "always there for advice and support".
