    A young woman from Thurcroft, Rotherham, who was pelted with stones by yobs when she was on a horse is still in recovery 18 months after the incident.

  3. Barnsley MP Dan Jarvis says IS are 'the fascists of our time'published at 17:43

    MPs have been debating whether or not Britain should involve itself in air strikes in Syria.

    Barnsley Labour MP Dan Jarvis says he will support the motion tonight, saying the action taking place in Iraq is "working" and it makes no sense not to extend it to Syria.

    Mr Jarvis says there "is no realistic strategy" for defeating so-called Islamic State without attacking Raqqah in Syria.

    He concludes the Labour Party has a "proud" history of standing up for the national interest when the country is under threat, and that IS are "the fascists of our time".

    Some Labour MPs have been facing online abuse for backing further airstrikes in Syria.

  5. Sheffield City Council debate changes to bus timespublished at 17:24

    I've been in a Sheffield City Council meeting all afternoon during which a number of issues  have been raised, including a long discussion about changes to bus times in the city.

    Protesters gathered outside the Town Hall to campaign against the changes.

    Joanne Lumley has organised a petition on the bus cuts in the city, which so far over 12,380 people have now signed.

    In total 14,403 people have signed various petitions about changes to bus services in Sheffield.   

  6. Syria air strikes: Protests planned in South Yorkshirepublished at 17:18

    Protest rallies organised by the Stop the War coalition against possible air strikes on Syria are taking place now in Barnsley and Sheffield.

    Martin Mayer, Sheffield TUC secretary, says: "We should learn the lessons of previous UK interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya and keep well out."

    Meanwhile, David Cameron has told the House of Commons that air strikes will make us safer. MPs are currently debating the issue and will vote later on whether the UK should begin bombing targets in Syria.

  7. Maltby crash victim 'a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother'published at 16:40

    Tributes have been paid to 66-year-old Barbara Twigg, from Doncaster, who's been named as one of the victims of a fatal crash in Maltby last week, external in which three people died.

  8. Sheffield City Region devolution: Have your saypublished at 16:27

    A six-week consultation on the proposed devolution deal for the Sheffield City Region has been launched.

    An "in-principle" agreement was struck between council leaders and chancellor George Osborne in October.      

    The online consultation, external runs from 2 December to 15 January.

    The elected mayor of Doncaster has confirmed to BBC Radio Sheffield she will run for a second term.

    Speaking to Toby Foster about devolution, Labour's Ros Jones ruled out standing for the South Yorkshire-wide mayor's role, but confirmed she would stand again in Doncaster.

    If Ms Jones is re-elected, she'll match the current record set by her Labour predecessor Martin Winter, who also won two terms of office.

  11. Doncaster woman could lose home over 'lunatic' pony legal battlepublished at 15:36

    A keen horsewoman from Doncaster who fought a four-year legal battle over the sale of a "raving lunatic" pony could lose her house after being saddled with six-figure legal bills.

    Lisa Walton paid Shan Allman, from Wales, £18,000 in May 2011 for Pirums Figaro. She wanted the thoroughbred for her daughter to ride competitively.

    But Mrs Walton demanded her money back calling Figaro "positively dangerous". Mrs Allman refused to take the pony back or return the cash, claiming she had honestly described the pony's character before selling him.

    The High Court has found in favour of Mrs Allman, leaving Mrs Walton to foot legal costs of £140,000.

  12. Doncaster woman Barbara Twigg named as Maltby crash victimpublished at 15:17

    A retired Doncaster music teacher has been named as one of three women killed when the car in which they were travelling was in collision with another car and a van.

    Barbara Twigg, 66, was in a Toyota Aygo when it was in collision with the vehicles on Tickhill Road, Maltby, on Thursday.

    Diana Hunt, 58, from Hatfield, who was driving the car was also killed. The third woman in the Aygo has not yet been named. Police are appealing for witnesses.

  13. Several protests taking place in Sheffieldpublished at 15:03

    A number of protests are going on at Sheffield Town Hall today:

    One concerns changes to bus timetables in South Yorkshire, after new routes and timetables were announced just over a month ago. Over 12,000 people have so far signed a petition calling for these changes to be reversed. 

    I arrived just as Liberal Democrat councillor Richard Shaw started speaking. Watch what he had to say below:

    Other protests taking place here today include:

    • A petition with 1,376 signatures being handed in, calling for support from Sheffield City Council for adult and community learning at threat from cuts
    • Another petition being handed in to Sheffield City Council calling for selective licensing of landlords in Grimethorpe
    • A Stop the War protest against action in Syria is also planned later this afternoon
  14. Yorkshire Ambulance Service response times improve but 'no quick fix'published at 14:50

    Ambulance response times in Yorkshire are improving and more is being done to make them better, according to a new report by Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

    The service was criticised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in its most recent report for not meeting response time targets for the most serious 999 calls.

  15. Hooton Pagnell Hall auction tops £1mpublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2015

    Bonhams’ sale of the selected contents of Hooton Pagnell Hall, external, one of Yorkshire’s oldest and most important country houses, has totalled over £1m.

    The auction lasted a marathon nine hours and nearly all the offered lots were sold. A total of £1,162,638 was made from the sale.

    The hall's owner Mark Warde-Norbury, sold a selection of the contents to “liberate objects and works of art that have sat in dark, cobwebby rooms for many years and to enable us to bring the house up-to-date for current and future generations". 

  16. Protest over bus services shake-up in Sheffieldpublished at 14:01

    I'm at a protest about changes to bus services which is ongoing outside Sheffield Town Hall.

    It's just over a month since new routes and timetables were announced. More than 12,000 people have signed a petition calling for the changes to be reversed.

  17. Public Enemy on their Sheffield Ford Focus 'Bohemian Rhapsody moment'published at 13:38

    Public Enemy founder Chuck D has called a photo of the band taken in the back of a fan's Ford Focus a "Bohemian Rhapsody moment".  

    We told you yesterday that Kevin Wells, from Killamarsh, gave the hip-hop legends a lift when they were left stranded on Saturday.

    Band frontman Chuck D say the lift was "a pleasure", and the band were "very grateful" to Mr Wells.

    Once in the car, Chuck D says he kicked off an in-car rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, similar to that in 1992 comedy Wayne's World, although he himself did not sing.
