    Barnsley manager Lee Johnson says he had hoped to keep Burnley's Kevin Long for the season, but it was never an option.

    The 25-year-old centre half has played a big role in the Reds' revival, but his 93-day loan comes to an end on 19 February.

    Johnson has told BBC Radio Sheffield the Clarets always planned to take Long back into their First Team squad.

    Tributes have been paid to two women from West Yorkshire who died following a collision between two taxis on the A638 at Rossington, Doncaster, at the weekend.

    The family of Jacqueline Friend, 59, from Castleford (pictured left), say she was "the most fabulous wife, mum, nana, sister, aunty and friend": "Our world has been shattered, and will never be the same again."

    The family of Lynda Leonard, 52, from Bradford (pictured right), say she'll be "sadly missed by her daughter Abbygail and partner Colin".

    Anyone with information about the collision is being asked to contact police, external.

    A man's in a stable condition in hospital this lunchtime after a fire in a block of flats in Sheffield, external.

    Fire crews were called to an address on Scraith Wood Drive off Herries Road at about 08:00 this morning.

    I've been at the scene for BBC Radio Sheffield this morning and the fire service has told me six appliances were sent to the flat. A man was found in the lounge by officers wearing breathing apparatus. 

    The cause of the fire is being investigated.

    Police say they're keen to catch whoever is killing birds of prey in the Peak District National Park.

    There's now a reward of £1,000 on offer, external to get the public involved in the effort to stop such crimes in the area. 

    So far an osprey - like the one pictured below - and two buzzards have been killed. The buzzards had been shot and the osprey was found in a trap.

    Brierley Park is to be extended and converted to secure its future, says Barnsley Council.

    The proposed works , externalwill see the park made bigger and there'll be more play equipment for older children.

    New signage will also be installed, at a cost of £20,000, the council says.

    An 11-year-old girl from Doncaster has written a letter to the burglars who stole her birthday presents - saying they've left her too scared to sleep in her own bed. 

    Among the items burglars stole from Paris Mulholland's house in Intake were her mobile phone, laptop and a gold watch passed down from her Nan. 

    She wrote the letter after I got in touch with her for BBC Radio Sheffield. This is what she wrote:

    We've brought you news today that paramedics are to vote on industrial action, and now Yorkshire Ambulance Service Trust has responded. 

    The dispute is about pay grading, and in a statement the trust says an offer has been made to paramedics who are members of the union Unison which is fair.

    Sheffield Wednesday missed the chance to move back into the top six in the Championship after a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Hillsborough last night. 

    The draw means Wednesday are still one point away from a play-off place.

    Wednesday haven't lost in the Championship at home since the end of August, going 12 games unbeaten, and are level on points with Birmingham, who they visit on Saturday.

    A dispute over pay grades has resulted in a ballot of paramedics on industrial action in Yorkshire.

    Their union, Unison, is to begin a ballot over their pay grade in a long-standing dispute with Yorkshire Ambulance Trust going back to 2004.

    Paramedics are graded at Band Five, but they say they should be paid at the higher Band Six level.

    Negotiations with the trust broke down over a week ago, says Unison.

    Police are asking for the public's help to find a teenager from Conisbrough who's been missing since last night.

    Ethan Davies, 14, was last seen near a paper shop on Church Street at about 18:00.

    Despite a number of searches, Ethan has not been found and police, along with Ethan's family, are becoming increasingly concerned., external

    Ethan is white, about 5ft 5ins tall, with a slim build and short mousy brown hair. He wears thick black-rimmed glasses and when he was last seen he was wearing a black quilted-style coat, black trainers and a grey coloured hoody.
