    Sheffield United's co-chairman has written to fans explaining why he's tendered his resignation, external.

    Jim Phipps joined United in 2013 as an adviser to the club's owner Prince Abdullah and became coach the following year. 

    In his farewell message to the fans, he says: "What I have not been able to give you, and what we all desire, I wish for you with all my heart: Serial promotions and a return to the Premier League."

    United were beaten at home yesterday and the Blades have had eight permanent managers in the last nine years.  

  2. Ben Needham search: Police to hold press conference at farmhouse on Kospublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 9 May 2016

    More on the latest developments in the search for Ben Needham who went missing on the Greek island of Kos in 1991.

    South Yorkshire Police confirmed the team will tomorrow hold a press conference at the farmhouse (pictured) which the family were renovating when Ben vanished as a toddler.

    A spokesman said the detectives will be "actively progressing lines of inquiry, distributing leaflets and posters, and carrying out house-to-house visits in Iraklis in Kos, where Ben was last seen".

    The hunt for missing Sheffield man Ben Needham sees officers returning to the island of Kos where he disappeared almost 25 years ago.

    Ben was just 21 months old when he vanished during a family trip to the island with his mother and grandparents.

    He would now be 26 years old and officers from South Yorkshire Police are hoping that in returning to Kos there could be a breakthrough when they hold a press conference tomorrow to urge islanders to help with the investigation. 

    They'll also distribute leaflets and posters and carry out house-to-house visits.

    There's a £10,000 Crimestoppers reward, external available to anyone who gives information leading to the discovery of Ben Needham.

    A 15-year-old girl from Barnsley is thought to be with a man after going missing from home, external at the weekend. It's thought Martina Lee Price from Darfield could be heading for Ireland.

    She was last seen on Saturday when she said she was going to a local shop, but she didn't return.
