  2. Tour de Yorkshire bikes to be donated to special librariespublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    They were seen as symbols for one of the region's biggest sporting events. Thousands of old bikes - painted blue and yellow, and dotted around the route of the Tour de Yorkshire. 

    But now those bikes are being reused and donated to special libraries, so they can be loaned out, free of charge.

    It's all part of the Tour's lasting legacy - to persuade more people to take up cycling.

  3. Ward funding to help communities thrivepublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    Local councillors are starting to allocate £300,000 of "ward pot" funding to community groups and projects that will help their communities thrive.

    Last year more than 300 community groups benefitted from "ward pots", with successful bids going towards community groups while others are getting money for local services, equipment and environmental improvements.

    Grants ranged from £250 to help fund cricket coaching in Nether Edge to £1,000 for computer classes in Parson Cross. 

    Brass bands, sports clubs, gardening groups, youth clubs and friendship groups also received funding to tackle local issues such as combatting loneliness and developing skills that can lead to employment.

  4. Could Sheffield be Britain's most active city?published at 17:29 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    We all know that exercise is good for us and can help us lose weight, but now organisations across an entire city are trying to encourage as many people as possible to get more active.

    'Move More month' brought together universities, the NHS, and two football teams to try to improve fitness levels in one UK city.

    Sheffield Sharks' new signing Jordan Davis is coming to Sheffield to win silverware.

    The point guard, who played college basketball in Tampa, agreed a one year deal this week.

    Davis says he's relishing the challenge of defending the Sharks BBL play off title.

  6. Watch: 'Game changing' HIV drug to be NHS fundedpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    The High Court has ruled that NHS England DOES have the power to fund the HIV preventative drug, PrEP.

    The once-a-day pill, which costs £400 a month per person, works by disabling the virus to stop it multiplying.

    The idea is to give it to uninfected men who are having unprotected sex with other men.

    Steve Slack is the chief executive of The Sheena Amos Youth Trust, a Sheffield charity for young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people...

  8. Missing Sheffield girl found safe and wellpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    Sheffield teenager Tamara Carr has been found safe and well this afternoon, police have confirmed.

    She had been missing since Sunday.  

    Officers say they're really grateful to everyone who has shared their appeal.

    On a day where trains are cancelled, delayed, and the dreaded 'replacement bus service' rings over the tannoy, there's only one man that seems to be able to brighten your day...

    Matt Dawson - self-proclaimed train manager extraordinaire - works on the Sheffield to London St Pancras route with East Midlands Trains and he seems to be a shinning light on a grey commute.

    Rotherham United have confirmed the deal to sign Kelvin Wilson on a one year contract.

    The centre-half was a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

    Injuries have meant his game time has been limited in recent years.

  11. House-to-house enquiries in search for missing girlpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    South Yorkshire Police are conducting house-to-house enquiries as they continue their search for missing Tamara Carr.

    There's growing concern this afternoon for the missing 15-year-old who's not been seen for two days.

    She was last seen in the Shirecliffe Road area of Sheffield.

    Tamara is white, around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with brown hair that is pink at the ends.

    She is believed to be wearing black jeans with a maroon hooded top and black trainers. Anyone who can help is asked to call 101.

  12. Luke McCullough ruled out for the seasonpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    Doncaster Rovers defender Luke McCullough has been ruled out for the 2016/2017 after picking up an injury against York City in pre-season.

    It adds to Darren Ferguson's headache after having numerous players sidelined through injury before the season even starts.

    Some pre-season friendlies have even had to be cancelled to protect the players Ferguson has at his disposal.

    Luke McCullough recently extended his contract with the club, meaning he'll stay with Doncaster Rovers until 2019.

  13. Investment in start-up company creates Rotherham jobspublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    At least 40 jobs will be created after the Government announced £440,000 investment, external in a Rotherham start-up company.

    Northern Powerhouse minister Andrew Percy pledged the money for BA Clic to develop and manufacture new products in the kitchen and bedroom industry.  

  14. Search for missing girl Tamara stepped uppublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    Police are conducting detailed land searches and house-to-house enquiries in their search for missing Tamara Carr.

    They are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of the 15-year-old girl, who has been missing for more than 48 hours.

    Tamara was last seen at around 7.30am on Sunday in the Shirecliffe Road area of Sheffield and there has been no contact from her since.

    Tamara is around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with brown hair that is pink at the ends.

  15. Water watchdog welcomes swift goodwill payment to villagerspublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    The Consumer Council for Water has welcomed the swift offer of a goodwill payment to 3,600 properties in the Yorkshire villages of Thorne and Moorends, which continue to be affected by a boil water notice.

    CCWater – which represents the interests of water consumers – has been working closely with Yorkshire Water to help ensure customers are kept properly informed throughout the incident.

    Customers have been told not to drink their tap water since Friday afternoon.

    They say they're pleased that Yorkshire Water has made a quick decision to offer a £30 gesture of goodwill to all affected households.

  17. Police appeal over wanted manpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 2 August 2016

    Police in Sheffield are asking for your help finding wanted man Roger Alexander, external.

    Tje 27 year old is wanted in connection with a number of offences including harassment and assault, which are reported to have taken place in the Parson Cross area of Sheffield over several months.

    Despite extensive enquiries, officers have been unable to locate him.
