    It's been announced today that UKIP's deputy chairman Diane James has won the contest to replace Nigel Farage as the party's leader.

    She said UKIP was the 'party of change'.

    Jonathan Arnott from Sheffield, who dropped out of the leadership race earlier this year, has tweeted his congratulations to the new leader and says he hopes she will unite rather than divide the party.

    A new homelessness service starts in Sheffield today.

    Nightstop South Yorkshire - run by homelessness charity Depaul UK - will give emergency accommodation to young people who face sleeping on the streets or in other unsafe places.  

    It's funded by the People's Postcode Lottery.

    Special Constable Bobby Dev has been handed the Special Constabulary Individual Award at the Home Office's Lord Ferrers Awards.

    SPC Dev was nominated for his commitment to the force's Inspiring Youth Award scheme, external, which was devised by him in 2005.

    About 3,000 young people take part in Inspiring Youth each year, from 17 secondary schools across the county.

    Campaigners who've been helping in the search to find Ben Needham say they are stunned at the news that police are preparing to search for his remains.

    A team of British police officers is preparing to return to the Greek island of Kos, external to follow up "new lines of inquiry" after information suggested the 21-month-old may have been crushed to death by a digger, rather than being abducted, 25 years ago.

    Ellie Martin from the Find Ben Needham Campaign told BBC Radio Sheffield it's the "worst news we could hear" and they're trying to come to terms with it.

    The police have found the body of an 80-year-old man from Sheffield, who is thought to have fallen into the water while fishing. 

    The man was reported missing yesterday morning. 

    His body was pulled from the water at Foston near Grantham in Lincolnshire yesterday afternoon.

    Doncaster's Cast theatre is celebrating after enjoying its best summer period of sales since opening in 2013.

    From mid-July to early September ticket income increased by 164% against the same period the year before, selling more than 8,000 tickets.

    Cast played host to several high-profile events in the summer including the 10th Doncaster Pride, MAPFEST  and BBC Radio Four's recording booth The Listening Project.

    Matthew Russell, the theatre's executive director, says the secret to their success is the range of productions they've been able to put on in the three years they've been open and the building itself.

    Sheffield batsman Joe Root has been rested from the one-day team's upcoming trip to Bangladesh.   

    Teenager Haseeb Hameed is one of three uncapped players named in England's Test squad for the tour.

    The Lancashire opener, 19, is joined in the 17-man party by Northamptonshire batsman Ben Duckett and Surrey all-rounder Zafar Ansari.

    Surrey off-spinner Gareth Batty, who turns 39 in October, is also included, 11 years after playing his last Test.

    James Vince has been dropped from the Test side but included in the ODI squad.

    A busy day is planned on Sunday around the Antiques Quarter in Sheffield.

    They're creating an art trail, external with youth groups and several well known street artists. 

    There are going to be more than 30 projects transforming walls, shop shutters and empty spaces- and some of the work's already begun.

    Police need your help to identify the men pictured in the CCTV images, as they may hold vital information about violent disorder that occurred on Silver Street in Doncaster last month.

    At about 20:45 on Sunday, 13 August, a number of men were reported to have been fighting on Silver Street, external in the town centre, resulting in one man being knocked unconscious.

    Officers investigating would like to speak with the men pictured, as they believe they may have important information in connection to the incident.

  19. Clifton up for top park awardpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Clifton Park was awarded a green flag for the fifth time in July and that means you can now vote for it as one of the best parks in the UK in the People's Choice award.

    A green flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the park boasts high standards of maintenance and excellent facilities.

    The local council says a lot of investment has gone into the park over the years, including £7.5m in 2009 to bring the walled garden back into use and updating the paddling pool with a splash park.

    In addition, a play park was designed in consultation with young people with eight separate areas including a skate plaza, sand area, chill out area and an enchanted wood.

    Voting is open now, external and closes at noon on Friday 30 September.
