The South Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel, which scrutinises the work of Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Billings is meeting at lunchtime to discuss his proposal to call on David Crompton to resign as chief constable.
You can follow the meeting, external here from 13:00.
The panel - which is mainly made up of local councillors - can give views on Dr Billings' proposal but it does not have the power of veto.
The panel and Dr Billings have received advice from the Chief Inspector of Constabulary, Sir Tom Winsor, about the plan. A leaked letter shows that Sir Tom believes that requiring Mr Crompton to resign is "conspicuously unfair, disproportionate and... unreasonable".
Dr Billings will make the final decision about whether Mr Crompton should resign or not and, under legislation, the Chief Constable must comply with it - but it's not expected that a decision will be announced today.
