    The owner of Staffordshire theme park Alton Towers will find out today what sentence it will face following last year's Smiler crash. 

    Two teenagers, including one from Barnsley, were left needing leg amputations, while several others were also seriously injured in the crash on 2 June last year.  

    Merlin Attractions Operations Limited has admitted breaching health and safety rules.

    The new search for Ben Needham has begun its second day. 

    Search teams from South Yorkshire are already busy sifting through soil from olive grove next to house where he was last seen alive.

    I'm in Kos, where police have held a press conference today. 

    After excavations began yesterday, they found a number of bones which have been confirmed as animal bones.

    The four people sitting in the front row in court today were the most seriously hurt.

    Victoria Balch, 21, from Lancashire, had six rounds of surgery in a bid to save her leg before needing an amputation.

    Leah Washington, 18, from Barnsley, also had one of her legs amputated and her 18-year-old boyfriend Joe Pugh shattered his knees.

    Daniel Thorpe, 28, from Buxton in Derbyshire, was treated for a collapsed lung and lower leg injuries.

    Another passenger Chanda Chauhan, 49, from Wednesbury, had surgery after suffering internal injuries.

    We've been talking about drug abuse on BBC Radio Sheffield.

    Figures obtained by the BBC in Yorkshire show there's been an increase in drug related deaths, and more people are dying from drug abuse than from road accidents. 

    In Sheffield for instance, over the last three years 30 people have been killed on the roads. More than a hundred have died of drug abuse.

    Alton Towers' owner will find out today what sentence it will face following last year's Smiler crash.  

    One of those most seriously injured in the Smiler crash, Vicky Balch spoke to the BBC 's Victoria Derbyshire programme in September.

    Vicky Balch along with Leah Washington from Barnsley both lost a leg in the crash and were in court as the sentencing hearing started yesterday. 

    Back in September, she said she still remembered the impact and feared she would not survive.

    Since then she's learnt to walk with a new, bionic leg after initially desperately resisting the amputation.

    Two 15-year-old boys arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of Craig Nelson have been released on bail.

    The teens were interviewed by detectives yesterday (Monday 26 September) and have been bailed as enquiries into Mr Nelson’s death continue.

    Five arrests have previously been made in connection with Mr Nelson’s death. This includes three 15-year-olds - two boys and a girl - who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail.A man and a woman were also arrested and charged with murder.Mr Nelson, also known as Craig Preston, was found on Monday 22 August on the moors on the A628 close to the Woodhead Tunnels, Derbyshire. He died as a result of head injuries.

    I'm at Gunstones Bakery in Dronfield this morning, where there's an uncertain future for workers. 

    The owners 2 Sisters Food, external are consulting with unions about the possibility of up to 500 redundancies, that would be half the workforce. 

    Gunstones has lost a contract to provide chilled foods to Marks and Spencer.

    The current order comes to an end early next year with redundancies expected to follow in February and March. 

    The Bakers Food Allied Worker's Union says the news has been devastating for the workforce.

  11. Search for Ben: Police find items of 'slight interest' in excavationpublished at 08:10 British Summer Time 27 September 2016

    At a news conference on the island of Kos in the last half hour, South Yorkshire Police have been giving an update on their search for the body of Ben Needham.  

    They say they found a vast number of bones yesterday. Each one was examined and all were animal bones. 

    They have also found though what they call items of slight interest: Some straps of fabric which require further investigation. 

    Excavation work on day two of the search is beginning now.
