  4. Search for Wickersley masked muggerspublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    Police in Rotherham are appealing for help to find two masked men who mugged another man in Wickersley.

    It happened behind the Wickersley Health Centre at 17:30 last Tuesday when the pair hit their victim and took his mobile phone.

    The men police are looking for are described as white and in their early 20s.

    They are believed to be about 5ft 9in and slim with short brown hair.

    One of the men was wearing a dark hooded top and matching bottoms with white stripes down the side of the leg.

    The second man was wearing a dark hooded top and blue jeans.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.

  5. Thurnscoe man charged after police chase which injured five peoplepublished at 17:36 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    A 28 year old man from Thurnscoe has been charged after a police chase which saw five people injured, including three police officers.

    11 vehicles were also damaged, including three police cars.

    The chase began at 17:45 last night in the Prince of Wales area of Sheffield.

    Officers then chased the grey Toyota Hilux until the pursuit ended in the Water Street area of Rotherham.

    Kieron Green, of Lansdowne Close, Thurnscoe, has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, driving with no insurance and no driving licence.  

    The 28 year old has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court tomorrow

    Three dogs in the back of the car were unharmed and have been returned to their owner.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.

    Two men have been injured and another man has been arrested and bailed following a crash in Chesterfield, external.

    Emergency services were called to the A61 northbound between the Horns Bridge and the Lockoford Island at about 23:10 last night after the two-car collision.

    Two men in a Nissan Micra were injured and taken to hospital, while the 21-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Golf was detained on suspicion of dangerous driving and bailed while inquiries continue.

    A 35-year-old man has been jailed for 40 months after admitting killing a man with a single punch.

    James Harvey of Park Road in Askern admitted manslaughter at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday.

    Darron Januszkiewicz, 35, died a week after being attacked by Harvey on the High Street in Askern in May.

    Sheffield Crown Court heard how Harvey had been drinking before punching Mr Januszkiewicz, causing him to hit his head.

  9. Barnsley holidaymaker sees car written off in airport car parkpublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    A woman from Barnsley whose car was written off has hit out at the firm she left it with while she was on holiday. 

    Julia Hickling had used the Cheshire Meet and Greet service at Manchester airport. 

    But when she returned from her holiday she was told the car had been in an accident.  

    In a statement, the firm say the accident occurred when a passing car squeezed their driver into a parked car damaging three vehicles. 

    She still hasn't had an apology from the firm. 

  10. Travel: East Midlands Trains set to be disrupted for rest of daypublished at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    Services to Sheffield on East Midlands Trains are set to be disrupted for the rest of the day.

    It's because of damage to overhead electrical wires at Luton which has closed the line to and from London.

    If you have loved ones trying to get back to South Yorkshire their tickets will be accepted so they can travel via the East Coast mainline at Doncaster instead.

    I've just been looking at the Met Office's yellow weather warning for snow.

    It looks like it will mainly fall across higher ground but if it gets heavy enough it could fall at lower levels.

    South Yorkshire could be affected as you can see on the map below.

    An investigation into the death of an elderly couple in a fire at a farm house in Stannington has finished.

    South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say their deaths were accidental and the fire is believed to have started while they were cooking.

    The whistleblower who revealed the Rotherham Child Sexual Exploitation scandal has been awarded the MBE.

    Jayne Senior, who revealed the abuse which affected 1,400 children, has dedicated her honour to the victims.

    Jayne Senior worked for the youth project Risky Business during the 15 year period when the exploitation was taking place.

    Speaking after the ceremony at Buckingham Palace she said:

  17. Rotherham CSE whistleblower to receive the MBEpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    The whistleblower who revealed the scale of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham is set to be honoured later.

    Jayne Senior helped reveal a pattern of exploitation in the town that saw large numbers of children and young people groomed, gang raped and tortured by groups of men.

    At least 1,400 children were subjected to appalling sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013, the Jay Report , externalfound.  

    Jayne Senior will receive her MBE from the Queen later today.

  18. MP: Government has 'utter contempt' for Sheffieldpublished at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    Another Sheffield MP has criticised the government for not mentioning a date for electrifying the line to the city.

    Sheffield Heeley's Louise Haigh has accused the government of having "utter contempt" for the city for not setting a date for the £800 million project to be completed.

    The government has said work on electrifying the line is continuing but it has to ensure value for money.

    Sports Direct has responded to the row over a recording device being photographed in a meeting at it's Shirebrook warehouse with MPs in a statement, external.

    It reads: "The board is disappointed that the MPs chose to visit on a day when they knew Mike Ashley would not be on site.

    "The board is disappointed that reporting of a possible recording device (the veracity of which has yet to be determined) has overshadowed the truly important issues that this visit should have focused on.

    "The board would like to make it clear that it did not authorise or have any knowledge of the possible recording device."
