    Andy Kershaw
    BBC Radio Sheffield News

A scrapyard next to Tinsley Park Cemetery has had a stop notice issued against it by Sheffield Council.

Dozens of scrap cars, parts and rubbish have piled up next to a listed chapel and wall, which is all affecting people mourning their loved ones.

The council says it has issued a Planning Contravention Notice and is about to issue an Enforcement Notice to force the owner of the yard to take action. If he doesn't he'll be prosecuted.

Owner Irfan Sahid told me that when he took the yard on he was advised by the council to put up a building on the site, which is why there's now one there.

He admits he hasn't yet applied for planning permission but will apply next week for retrospective planning consent.

He adds the scrap vehicles lined up against the cemetery wall will be gone in two weeks and says he tries to control any noise or disturbance.
