    Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis tells BBC Radio Stoke his job at Gresty Road is getting harder.

    The Alex are currently bottom of League One, having won only three games so far this season and Davis admits the age balance in the squad is not quite right and the club have a "challenging future" ahead of them.  

  3. Alton Towers jobs threat: Council pledges to support jobless workerspublished at 17:42

    Workers at Alton Towers who are facing redundancy will be given support by Staffordshire County Council, its deputy leader has pledged.

    Yesterday, the theme park announced its plan to cut up to 190 job cuts by next march.

    Ian Parry, deputy council leader, says: "We'll do all we can to ensure those people are supported through training and re-employment. Here's hoping this is a blip for Alton Towers and they can get back to winning ways."

  4. Green light for new 20 mph zones outside east Cheshire schoolspublished at 17:35

    Plans to turn all roads with schools into 20 mph zones, external across east Cheshire have been given the green light by the council

    The limits will only be advisory and will only apply at pick-up and drop-off times. But there are concerns the limits won't be obeyed and will make main roads too slow.

  5. Garratt cleared as Crewe's red card overturnedpublished at 17:27

    The red card given to Crewe Alexandra's Ben Garratt on Saturday has been overturned.

    He was sent off in the second half of Crewe's 1-0 defeat to Eastleigh in the FA Cup first round.

    The club says in a statement, external: After reviewing the evidence the Independent Regulatory Commission found Garratt had not prevented an obvious goalscoring opportunity and will now be available for this weekend's game at Bradford City.

  6. Council could 'fast-track' future major planning applicationspublished at 17:21

    Major planning applications in Cheshire East could be "fast-tracked" using a new paid-for council service. 

    The authority wants to set up a premium scheme, which it says would cut unnecessary delays and generate revenue. 

    Proposals to build more than 500 houses or create more than 200 jobs would be eligible for the Priority Planning Applications service. 

    The council claims it's one of the busiest planning authorities in the country, and this will improve investors' confidence in its ability to handle major applications.

  8. Tour of Britain heading for Cheshire?published at 16:55

    The Tour of Britain cycle race is one step closer to coming to Cheshire, with Cheshire East Council's cabinet approving a plan to try and host a stage.

    The council wants to bid for part, external of the race in 2016, possibly in Congleton, which could cost £750,000.

    Hosting part of the Tour could generate £3.5m for the local economy, a report considered today by councillors suggests.

    Councillors in east Cheshire have been criticised for refusing to commit to taking any Syrian refugees until the government's spending review later this month.

    David Cameron has committed to accepting up to 20,000 refugees into the UK over the next five years.   

    Cheshire East Council, whose cabinet is meeting today to discuss the issue, external, says it'll give a "measured and proportionate" response to the issue, but won't give any commitment until the government reveals how much funding will be available.

  12. Four injured in two-car crash in Biddulphpublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2015

    Four people have been injured after a crash involving two cars near Biddulph. 

    Fire crews from Leek, Biddulph, Sandyford and Hanley were called to Four Ways, Biddulph Park Road, at about 12:30 and remain at the scene. Two of those involved had to be released from the car, the fire service says.
