    - A new scheme on the M6 in Staffordshire where motorists are allowed to use the hard shoulder throughout the day has been branded dangerous by the AA

    - The amount people in Staffordshire pay to the county's fire service could go up from April, with a decision expected today

    The Potters' 3-1 win was their first triumph in four Premier League games and followed successive 3-0 defeats by Manchester United and Everton.  

    It's hard when we lose a couple of games 3-0 and people say we can't play football anymore. But we showed we're really confident in our play.

  4. Woman jailed after killing partner in Stoke-on-Trent

    A woman has started a jail sentence after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of her partner in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Sophie Lou Butler, 20, was sentenced yesterday at Leicester Crown Court to six years and three months in prison.

    She had previously admitted killing her boyfriend, Norasab Hussain, 33, at their flat in Bromley Court, Hanley, on 30 May last year.

    Their relationship was volatile and the court heard how domestic abuse, was a toxic feature which undoubtedly contributed to an unhealthy relationship and ultimately, this untimely death.
