    Port Vale player, Louis Dodds, says he doesn't want to play for any other football club.

    The 29-year-old, who's been at Vale Park since 2008, signed a one-year deal, external, with the option of a further year, last summer.

    Events are being held this year to remember a canal pioneer, external in Staffordshire. 

    James Brindley planned the Trent and Mersey Canal with Josiah Wedgwood, external at a meeting in Stoke-on-Trent in 1765. 

    The city council says his work "revolutionised transport in Britain" and events are taking place this year in the area to mark 300 years since his birth in 1716.

    A large amount of valuable watches and jewellery, external were stolen in the break-in this morning at intu Potteries, police have confirmed.

    Staffordshire Police say several people, some with their faces covered, broke into Beaverbrooks after smashing their way into the centre and starting a fire. 

    The force says the exact value of what was stolen "is unknown" at the moment.

  8. A&E delays 'reach record levels'published at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2016

    A&E delays in England have reached record levels, official figures show.

    The data for January from NHS England showed 88.7% of patients were dealt with in four hours. The target is 95%.

    NHS England said given record demand, it was not surprising hospitals saw performance dip.

    - Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 89.9%

    - The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust - 89.3%

  10. Cheshire Police criticised over wrongly issued parking ticketspublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2016

    A solicitor from Crewe has criticised a decision by Cheshire Police not to pay back drivers who were wrongly issued, external with parking tickets.

    The force revealed yesterday that around 1,600 tickets issued by some police community support officers (PCSO) were not valid.

    Cheshire Police said a number of PCSOs were not granted powers to issue parking tickets but it says it does not plan to reimburse drivers who've paid fines.

    My view is that if a ticket is issued unlawfully, they've got no power to enforce it, so they can't accept any payments against those tickets, so any payments made should be refunded in my view."

    I've been over to the intu Potteries shopping centre in Hanley this morning after last night's break-in. 

    Staffordshire Police say a gang of people broke through the front doors , externaland this video gives you an idea of the damage they caused. 

    The shopping centre itself is open today to the public although four shops, Beaverbrooks, Costa Coffee, O2 and Swarovski remain shut this morning.

    CCTV footage from the intu Potteries shopping centre in Stoke-on-Trent is being examined by police after the break-in overnight.

    Staffordshire Police say a group of people smashed their way into the centre, external this morning and some broke into the Beaverbrooks store. 

    In a statement, intu Potteries, external says they've given police CCTV footage from inside and outside the centre. 

    They also say they are open for business today but a few shops remain closed and there is some restricted access to car parks as investigations continue.
