    - A tanker fire has caused the closure of the M6 northbound at junction 16 in Staffordshire this afternoon as emergency services tackle the blaze

    Cheshire Police tell us the tanker broke down just after midday and it caught light just after 14:00. The driver escaped unharmed.

    Fire crews are on the scene, external.

    The northbound side remains closed but North West Motorway Police say the southbound side has reopened - it was shut because of drifting smoke.

    Newcastle-under-Lyme's Jake Shakeshaft has told BBC Radio Stoke it's a huge responsibility to represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

    The 20-year-old, from Clayton, will duet with 21-year-old Joe Woolford from Wales in Sweden next month.

    Jake told BBC Radio Stoke he's going to try not to think about how many people are watching.

    I've been down to the Royal Stoke University Hospital this morning where junior doctors have joined a national walkout for 48 hours.

    So far today the University Hospitals of North Midland says 321 outpatient appointments have been cancelled because of the strike.

    The BMA said it had been left with "no choice" in its fight against the government's plan to impose a new contract in which, it said, the profession had "no confidence"  

    But a spokeswoman for the Department of Health said: "This strike is irresponsible and disproportionate."
