    I've been visiting a newly opened community garden and memory café in Crewe. 

    It's based at St. Barnabus' church hall, external and is aimed at people in the first stages of dementia. 

    Those behind the scheme told me the idea is to provide a space for people to enjoy activities and reduce isolation.

    Crewe Alexandra's first team coach says relegation has made the club's management a "much stronger team".

    Health bosses are warning people not to put extra pressure on the A&E unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital during Euro 2016.

    The University Hospitals of North Staffordshire NHS Trust, external says they usually see 350 patients a day at the unit but that's already increased to 400 a day because of "frail elderly" people needing help. 

    The trust says numbers are likely to rise again during Euro 2016 because of "alcohol related cases" and wants people to avoid coming in with minor injuries if they can.

    Hundreds of runners and walkers will be taking part in this Sunday's Potters 'Arf Marathon in Stoke-on-Trent.   , external

    Organisers say they're expecting nearly 2,000 competitors to line up for the main race, including Cheadle runner Rebecca Harrison (featured in video) who won it in 2007. 

    The Potters 'Arf has been taking place since 2005 and large crowds are also expected for the now-annual event.

    Over 500 school pupils in east Cheshire could soon find they're no longer eligible for free transport, external to school.

    They live in areas which haven't previously been designated as safe to walk to school - but Cheshire East Council insists improvements to roads and pavements mean it is now safe. 

    If approved, the change will come into effect next April, but parents will be told this summer and the authority says it could save nearly £500,000 over four years.

    Cheshire East Council says the schools affected would be Tytherington, Poynton High, Brine Leas, Wheelock Primary, and Malbank (pictured).

    More than 60,000 visitors are expected in Cheshire this weekend at one of the North West's biggest motorsport events.  

    The three-day Cholmondeley Festival of Power and Speed, external in Cheshire is in its ninth year. 

    Organisers say it contributes millions to the local economy.

  11. 'Toxic' cans part of fly-tipped waste in Staffordshirepublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    Cans labelled with toxic stickers were among items which Staffordshire Police says were part of a "potentially dangerous fly-tipping incident, external". 

    The force says they were called last night to Six Ashes Road, near the Six Ashes pub, and found tyres, wood, a leaking water tank and the cans which had "skull and crossbones" stickers on them.

    Officers say they called out Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service because of the toxic labels and they "made the area safe". 

    The force has said today that so far they can't confirm what was in the cans, as tests are being carried out.

  14. Polling cards wrongly issued to EU citizens in Staffordshirepublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 10 June 2016

    Polling cards have been wrongly sent out to 21 EU citizens in Staffordshire who are not allowed to vote in the EU referendum, external, the Electoral Commission has revealed. 

    A software "issue" meant polling cards and some postal votes were sent out to some "non eligible" voters.

    According to the commission's figures, Cannock Chase Council sent out 15, five went out in the Stoke-on-Trent City Council area and one in South Staffordshire.

    The Electoral Commission said any postal votes wrongly issued would be cancelled and none of those affected would appear as an eligible voter on the electoral registers used at polling stations.

    Two teenagers have been arrested after a road rage incident between Whitchurch and Nantwich in which a man was threatened with what appeared to be a gun, external, police say.

    West Mercia Police say it happened at 22:00 on Wednesday on the A525 - they are looking for three other people who may have been in the teenagers' car.  

    Two men, aged 19 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
