    A crackdown on the sale of super-strength alcohol in Stoke-on-Trent is part of a city council plan aimed at reducing the harm, external caused by alcoholism in the city.

    A report by the authority says alcohol-related deaths and alcohol-fuelled violent crime in the city are among the worst in England.

    It adds that 44% of people are drinking at risky levels. 

    A four-year plan to reduce the problem is being discussed by the city council's cabinet this afternoon. 

    It includes considering a scheme to restrict the sale of strong alcohol, external.

    The public had the choice of three names and voted to call the site of the old East West Precinct "Unity Walk". 

    The firm say they are now working to finalise tenants and will hold a public exhibition early next month.
