    New figures obtained by the BBC show there were nearly 400 acid attacks in the West Midlands in the last thee years.

    Staffordshire Police recorded five while West Midlands Police recorded 372 attacks.

    Across the UK, more than 400 people were hurt so badly they were admitted to hospital after being attacked with acid or other corrosive substances.

    Plans have been approved to turn a former Stoke-on-Trent school into a new housing development.

    Dunedin Homes & Developments Ltd from Birmingham put in proposals with the city council to build 26 homes , externalon the site of the old St Dominic's School in Hartshill, which closed in 2009.

    Concerns had been raised to planners, including claims access to the site was too narrow and the development would bring more congestion to Hartshill road.

    But officials with the council said the proposals would bring "high quality housing" to the site and recommended conditions to improve pedestrian and highway safety - councillors agreed and backed the plans.

    The Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has told BBC Radio Stoke he feels he's still got unfinished business at the football club.

    The former England striker received a civic honour from the Stoke-on-Trent Lord Mayor this week, in recognition of his 100 Premier League goals. 

    Crouch has one year left on his contract and says he'd love to win a trophy for the fans.

    Drivers could see the M6 through Staffordshire and Cheshire sponsored by Manchester United, under a plan to make money to spend on the country's roads. 

    The £250,000 Wolfson economics prize for this year is looking for the best suggestion on how to solve the problem of the UK's overcrowded roads.

    The president of the AA Edmund King's submitted plans which include seeing sports clubs, supermarkets and other firms buy the naming rights for major roads. 

    He says it would give the companies an incentive for them to ensure they are pothole-free.

    Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough says he has full confidence in goalkeeper Stephen Bywater.

    A halogen heater left next to a chair is being blamed for a fire, external that badly damaged a house in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service says it's "lucky" people in the property on Sneyd Avenue got out unharmed on Saturday morning.

    They say they believe the heater accidentally started the fire in a study on the first floor.

    Fire crews say the blaze caused "significant fire damage" to the roof and first floor.

    There have been plenty of comments on the BBC Radio Stoke Facebook page to news of repairs to the paving in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. 

    The city council says it's making temporary repairs in Albion Square ahead of an event this weekend and says some damage has been caused by lorries driving on pedestrianised areas.

    On the Facebook page, John Cartlidge posted, external: "If it had been done right in the first place, it wouldn't need repairs." 

    While Lisa Birks added, external: "Not been down two minutes. Spend the money elsewhere instead of Hanley all the time." 

    And Tina Molloy wrote, external: "That's what happens when buses, cars and lorries drive over it, it should have been a pedestrian-area only."

    News that Grimsby Town fans are paying for a Mariachi band for their final away game due to an inflatables ban has brought back memories of Stoke City fans getting involved with starting this trend. 

    Barnet said on Monday "inflatables will not be allowed into the ground" for Saturday's League Two game.

    The craze of taking inflatables to football ground took a real hold during the 1988-89 campaign. 

    Stoke City supporters took 3,000 blow-up Pink Panthers to Manchester City that season, external, after Blues' fans had visited them with thousands of inflatables in various styles.

    Two men from Tamworth have admitted their parts in a £42m hack of the TalkTalk website. 

    The telecommunications firm said the hack in October 2015 saw nearly 160,000 of its customers' personal details accessed

    Today Matthew Hanley, 22, of Devonshire Drive, pleaded guilty to hacking into the website between 18-22 October.

    The court heard he also gave hacking data to another man and gave TalkTalk customer details to Connor Allsopp, 20, of Coronation Street for fraud use.

    Allsopp admitted supplying a TalkTalk customer's details for fraud and as well as files for hacking.

    Reports for both defendants were ordered by the judge, with sentencing adjourned until 31 May.
