  2. Teenager seriously hurt 'after coming off motorbike'published at 15:01 British Summer Time 12 June 2017

    A teenager's suffered serious injuries, external after coming off a motorbike in Staffordshire.

    West Midlands Ambulance says they were called at 14:17 yesterday to the junction of Heatley Lane and the B5013 near Abbots Bromley.

    They say the bike's thought to be the only vehicle involved in the incident and the woman was the passenger and suffered arm, suspected pelvis and back injuries.

    She was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital while another man, who suffered minor injuries, was taken by ambulance to hospital.

    A fish and chip shop's been fined after Stafford Borough Council says dead flies were found floating in pineapple juice and flies were breeding near a potato-chipping machine., external

    The authority says the owners of Stafford Chippy, Bejal and Pratul Kumar Patel, admitted to magistrates charges of not ensuring food was protected from contamination and failing to control pests in the food storage.

    The inspection happened at the Foregate Street takeaway in October, the council says, and found a "significant infestation of drain flies".

    The council says the couple closed voluntarily, cleaned the site and then reopened, gaining a "satisfactory" rating after their latest inspection.

    Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, manager Gareth Southgate says Butland will play the second 45 minutes, with Burnley keeper Tom Heaton playing the first half.

    The changes some after Joe Hart faced criticism for his performance against Scotland at the weekend which saw him conceded two free-kicks within three minutes.

    A man's admitted killing a man in Crewe last summer who was stabbed in the heart.

    Cameron Albi Scragg, 21, formally of Gresty Road in Crewe , externalpleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Stephen O'Brien, who was attacked in a service lane off Edleston Road.

    Scragg will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court next month.

    Earlier this year, Oliver John Dabbs, 19, of Wood Street was jailed for life after being found guilty of Mr O'Brien's murder.

    A lorry's hit a bridge in Lichfield and overturned.

    Staffordshire Police says it happened just after 12:30 today on the A5127.

    The force says the road's been blocked after the collision and they're working with the fire service and Network Rail to get it moved.

    They say the lorry driver only suffered minor injuries.

    Butcher says he wasn't impressed by Joe Hart's performance during England's 2-2 draw against Scotland.

  10. Hedgehog 'blown up like beach ball' to have air released in Cheshirepublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 12 June 2017

    A hedgehog "blown up like a beach ball" and diagnosed with a severe case of balloon syndrome is going to be thoroughly examined at an RSPCA centre in Cheshire.

    The animal, which had inflated to twice its size, was spotted wandering around in circles by a member of the public in Doncaster.

    RSPCA inspector Sandra Dransfield said it was clear the animal was suffering the rare condition, which is caused by gas collecting under the skin.

    The large 1kg (2.2lb) hedgehog has been transferred to the RSPCA's Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Nantwich where he will be thoroughly examined under general anaesthetic and more air released.

    He will be cared for at the centre until he is ready to be returned to the wild.

    More students in Newcastle-under-Lyme have been telling BBC Radio Stoke about problems they experienced when trying to vote in this year's general election.

    Dozens had told Keele Students Union Council they were turned away after being told their "names were not on the list" at polling stations, despite have a polling card.

    The Electoral Commission is investigating what happened and says it will consider the reports from Newcastle-under-Lyme.

    The borough council says it's looking into what happened, adding that lists weren't updated which meant people with polling cards couldn't cast their vote.

    Martin O'Neill's men, captained by fellow Potter Glenn Whelan, trailed for most of the match to defender Martin Hinteregger's first-time strike in the 31st minute.
