Mrs May will be meeting the committee a day after announcing her cabinet.

Mrs May is set to face tough questions later from her backbenchers after the Conservatives lost their majority at last week's election.

She has faced calls after the election to resign while the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has accused Mrs May of "squatting" in No 10, telling the BBC's Andrew Marr Show on Sunday that the country "cannot go on with a period of great instability".

    Quote Message

She received a higher percentage of the votes than any prime minister for a considerable length of time and this was in an election which showed an unprecedented turnout as well. The turnout in my constituency of Stafford was 76%."
